bmw e36 328i conertible.i renovated the roof fabric with a black dye and a waterproof sealer .?

the results were incredible.however the process seems to have stiffened the mohaire fabric,with the result that when i try to lower the hood,sometimes the mechanism stops,probably due to some type of safety system finding resistence.any advice/help please

Work or manipulate the fabric to loosen it up and lubricate all the moving joins on the hood mechanism to reduce friction and make it easier for the mechanism to move. Choose the lubricant carefully as you do not want to stain the fabric or the interior - a sprayable grease will do but put a large cloth around the joint when spraying to avoid over-spray damage.
