Your lucky. Divorces are usually nasty and long drawn out. That's great that you two are not torching your children. Most parents forget they have children and think of only themselves. Good for you guys :)

I came out of a divorce a little over a year and a half ago. To this day, I still occasionally think about my ex. It's a pretty common thing. They're usually either good things you remember or bad things. I remember a lot of bad things about my ex, not so many of the good things (i do have some, but i don't think about them as often). This has helped me to look for someone who doesn't share those same qualities that I couldn't stand. It will probably take a couple of years to get over your ex since it was such a long relationship. I dated my ex for 5 years before we got married, so it will take a lot longer to get over her than if we had only dated for 1 or 2 years. You get really accustomed to the way things were and it's hard to change them.

First, wait until the divorce is final before dating someone else - that's why you're dreaming about EX = until the Judge says "Final" it's not over - and you're still married.
Oh and just because you aren't asking for child support etc. doesn't mean there wont' be a decision as to who owes whom what amount of child support - and how custody is to be divided.
Get single legally first.

I think it is completely normal. I still dream about my ex, we were together for 5 years (married 1.5 yrs). At first my dreams about him were sexual, then that dissipated and the dreams became more about us just hanging out as friends. The dreams aren't constant, one every couple months. A friend of mine who had been divorced for 11 years says she still has dreams about her ex every now and then. When you love someone and have a history with them, it just doesn't go away.

It's probally because you are used to him. You will think about him for a while to come. Just try to keep it in perspective and allow the new guy in your life. It's totally normal. Good Luck to you!

you will always have feelings for your ex unless he really hurts you. These feelings will come and go at times you will remember the good times but something lead to the divorce so don't forget that. Also please don't start another relationship right away.
