overtime until the first team scores. thats in the NFL
in college the teams both get a chance to score, they start at the 25 yard line, if they score a touchdown and the other team does to they go into another overtime, if at the 3rd overtime the score is still tied, if u score instead of kicking a PAT for 1 pt. u have to go for a 2pt conversion

Overtime. In college football you try to tie the amount the other team got first. For instance if one team scores a touchdown the other team must score a touchdown or they lose. If one team kicks a field goal and the other team scores a touchdown then the touchdown scoring team wins!
In the NFL its whoever scores first wins. If no one scores after i think two over times. Then its a tie.
I'm not sure about high school football. In Friday Night Lights by H.G. Bissinger (A true story), the Permian Panthers won the game with the score tied because the had more first downs. But I'm not sure.
GO MICHIGAN!!!!!!!!!!! HAIL TO THE VICTORS!!!!!

If it is a regular season game in the NFL, there is 1 15 minute sudden death overtime period. If no one scores in that, the game is a tie. In the playoff's, they just keep playing until someone scores.
In college football, each team gets a posession at the other teams 25 yard line to try and score. If it is still tied, they will go to double overtime, triple overtime, whatever is necessary to break the tie. There are no ties in college football.

It goes to overtime. In the NFL there is a coin toss for possession and the first team to score wins the game. In college there is a coin toss for possession and the first team to score and not allow the opposing team to score as much as or more then they did wins. For example, if College Team A scores a field goal first, then College Team B gets a turn. If B doesn't score, A wins. If B scores a field goal, A gets the ball again and they get to try and score again and B would also get another chance. If B scores a touchdown, the game is over. If A doesn't score on their possession and B follows and scores anything, the game is over.

In regulation, it goes to overtime. In the NFL its sudden death overtime, meaning the first team to score wins. At the end of overtime, if no one's scored, it's recorded as a tie unless its playoff game, in which it goes to extra overtimes until someone scores. In college football, each team has one chance to score, and if no one scores or if both teams score the same amount of points, it goes into extra overtimes until someone ends up with more points than the other team. High School football follows the NFL's Sudden Death Overtime, with the firs tto score wins, and if no one does, it's ruled a tie unless it's a playoff game.

Tied after regulation, it goes to overtime and if its still tied at the end of overtime then it ends in a tie. In the playoffs, the game is played until there is a winner.

Overtime.
The rules depend on the level/leauge of football.
NFL is sudden-death (first team to score wins, if the overtime ends in a tie, the game ends in a Tie)
College works like an inning in baseball, one team gets possession, then the other. the team who has the most points at the end of the "inning" gets the win, or the game continues if it's still tied.
I'm not sure on the High school level..I think it works like the NFL.

everyone says overtime. I say depends if you are talking college or pro.
In pro football, goes to OT (overtime) for a 15 minute sudden death quarter. First team to score wins. If time expires again with no score, its a tie (very rare).
In college, it goes to the equivalently to a shoot out. Each team gets a shot to score a short touchdown or field goal. The other team then has a shot to match or beat you. First team not to get matched or to outscore the other in OT wins the game. (VERY EXCITING :-D)

The NFL allows for one overtime period. The first team to score wins. If no one scores its a tie. NCAA gives each team a chance to score starting on the 35yd line. They go as long as it takes for one team to out score the other. After 2 overtimes the teams must go for 2pt conversions on touchdowns.

In the NFL they go into a 15 minute overtime, the first to score wins, in regular season games after 15 minutes if no one scores it is a tie, in the playoffs they will play extra 5 minute OT's untill someone scores.
