I have used speaker cables for my guitar a few times in the past but it shorts out very easily so yeah it will work but its still not a good investment. Much annoying feedback will also occur.

I'm sorry, but a speaker cable is not shielded so you will pick up a loud, annoying hum if you try to use it.

In theory it will work, but it will pick up a lot of noise (like hum). Try it anyway and see -- it might work out OK for you if you don't mind the extra noise.
