G. W. Bush has a master's degree in business from Harvard. (How, I have no idea. It kinda makes you wonder about Harvard though..) He was an officer in the Texas Air National Guard, and a fighter pilot. He never saw any combat in the Vietnam war, nor did he ever leave the country. He never completed his required service in the National Guard, after transferring to an Alabama wing to assist one of his father's political friends in an election. He essentially was "AWOL"(absent without leave) for the last 8 months of his service, refused to take a flight physical to keep his pilot's status, presumably because his drug usage might be detected in the blood work and "pee test". He did however, recieve an honorable discharge from the service. Again, HOW? I can only guess, it was largly due to his family's huge fortune, and his father's political clout.
Every business venture he ever entered into was a bust, with the exception of his ownership of the Texas Ranger's baseball team, and even then they never won a pennant. He ran for, and was elected governor of Texas. They had the dubious distinction of executing more prisioners in his time in office, than all of the other states COMBINED. Several of those executed were later proven innocent, according to "Project Innocence" a pro bono group of advocates and attorneys that investigate claims of innocence by those sentenced to life in prison, or death.
Yes, THIS is who we have running the most powerful nation on earth.

I guess he was the son of a president... I guess.

I live in Texas and I am VERY familiar with the Texas government.... the executive branch (the governor) is very limited; his real power is the veto (which Bush never used).
I know that people on here will mention his stint as governor but the governor in Texas is not as powerful as in other states.
I was really flabbergasted that he EVEN wanted to run for the presidency in the first place... He was always very mediocre but adequate as governor and never seemed to reach for more power. What he has become is very frightening.

Some people are mentioning that he was a failure as a businessman... that is sort of true. His father bailed him out of many tight situations but he strangely sold out his near bankrupt oil sharings at way inflated prices... I guess his friends or his father's friends orchestrated that BUT that isn't really unusual for the wealthy taking care of the wealthy (I don't have a problem with someone having a golden parachute)... He was also just a figurehead when he owned a small but major stake in the Texas Rangers; he was actually sold his piece of the team so he could put his name and face publicly and serve as a sort of spokesman... he really had no day-to-day business interests with the team. Once again, he sold his shares at exorbitant prices that were not worth it.

President Bush was chief executive of the State of Texas where as Governor he was the first Texas governor to be elected to consecutive 4 year terms. He reached out in a bipartisan effort to Democrats in the legislature to enact sweeping reforms in Texas and a public policy based on personal responsibility, local control, and strong families.

bush did not possess ONE single qualification for the office of President of the United States of America.

Which is, of course, why it was necessary to steal both elections.

He had only 8 years as Governor of Texas. In Texas, the Lieutenant Governor has more power than the Governor. Other than that he had no political experience at all. He failed at every business venture he tried. If it weren't for his name and daddy's influence he would probably be on the street collecting cans and recycling them for a little money to buy his liquor with.

Constitutionally he was qualified. He had reached 35 years of age, was born in the US (Connecticut) and had resided in the US for the last 14 consecutive years.

The same as your qualifications to ask such an asinine, imbecilic and juvenile question.

I've got a nice little idea. Why don't you try to focus the same level of hatred at the terrorists that want to bag your head and saw through your neck with a fishing knife, then at Bush, whom is trying to keep your miserable existence breathing ??

Amazing how people can't come up with anything more than 'he's stupid'

Stupid people don't generally get through Yale and Harvard. He was outstanding as govenor of Texas, he was a successful businessman and served in the National Guard.

He had more political experience going into office than Jimmy Carter - peanut farmer.

President Bush received a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School in 1975. Following graduation, he moved back to Midland and began a career in the energy business. On November 8, 1994, President Bush was elected Governor of Texas. He became the first Governor in Texas history to be elected to consecutive 4-year terms when he was re-elected on November 3, 1998.
