Commentators made much ado over his comment yesterday about wanting to be liked but having to do the right thing, even when it is unpopular. Havng lost the battle of popular opinion, it sounds like he is holding on to the idea that he will be a martyr to the cause. What do you think?

Poor little George - he has it so tough with all these mean and nasty liberals making such a big deal out of this war. He's really a hero for sticking to his guns and doing what his gut tells him and ignoring the liberally distorted reality.

Tell me, when was he doing the right thing. As far as I can tell, at every turn he has made a bad situation worse. At every turn, he has merely reacted without a strategy. If he actually has a strategy, it does not consider the best interests of most Americans, only the very rich.

Remember it took a long time for the majority to agree with MLK as well, but by sticking to his principles and ignoring the nay-sayers he was eventually proven right and is now considered by most Americans to be a great man

I disagree with you. He's trying to protect us. Thank goodness he wasn't willing to play tittle winks with Saddam through another 17 resolutions. Unlike a whole lot of people, he hasn't forgotten what happened to us on 911.

No he's waiting to declare marshal law, make himself king as long as HE'S fighting the war on terror and suspend human rights if can't afford to buy them.
