I mean considering the egg has to travel down the fallopian tubes and then if not fertilized you get a period...what happens if the fallopian tubes are blocked and the egg can't travel? I would assume you wouldn't have a period(or what period you would have would only be due to the uterine lining deteriorating)..

A woman's uterus begins preparing for a possible fertilized egg several days before ovulation occurs. The body only knows that there is not a fertilized egg present and is not able to detect if there is or isn't an unfertilized egg. Birth control pills work by preventing ovulation. So, similar to a blocked fallopian tube, women who take birth control pills do not have an egg that actually travels down the fallopian tube to the uterus but do have monthly periods. All periods are the shedding of the un-needed uterine lining. If you have a blocked fallopian tube, it would be helpful to ask your health care provider for some information.

The fallopian tubes have nothing to do with periods. The tubes carry eggs from the ovaries to the uterus once each month. Menstruation is the shedding of the lining of the uterus which takes place once a month if there is no pregnancy. It continues whether or not the body has fallopian tubes. No doctor would perform a tubal ligation on an 18 year old patient unless there was a serious medical problem present. Consider getting birth control pills. The pills stop ovulation, so no pregnancy can take place, and regulate the menstrual periods.

Yes, you would have a period. Your uterine lining will be shredded every month.
