It depends. I mean the hypocrisy and cynicism of it is pretty staggering, so if they wanted to be honorable, then yes. On the other hand, if all they are trying to do is pull every trick in the book to try and win elections (as seems to be the case), then I'm afraid it's pointless to expect them to behave better. We just have to call them on it when they get busted, and throw the bums out at the polling place.

What, and not talk about gay marriage? How do you expect the David Vitters of the world to get elected? They certainly can't campaign on issues that would really benefit the American people.

They will when the Democrats denounce the idea they are for the common man when they pander so frequently to 'special' interests.
You don't like Republicans. OK. Neither do I on everything. I just don't like more of the things the Democrats want to push down my throat. And that is how they do it. They push! They don't ask. They tell me how to act.
If Vitter was a Democrat you'd be praising him instead of using his as an example of double standard. And Clinton WAS morally unfit to govern. But Democrats never admitted it.

Yes it is. For some reason the republican party has had that slogan attached to them and for many years the party has run with it. The last several years that slogan has come back to bite the republican party. Lets face it, no one has a lock on family values and it is pretty hypocritical for a politician to preach on family values to anyone.

Isn't chasing young boys and visiting prostitutes and multiple divorces and cross dressing all part of Family Values?
it must be as so many Republican officials indulge in them. They're all so Moral and preach to others so I know they wouldn't do all this if it wasn't certified and permissible.
Let Family Values LIve - right wing style.

NO NO NO please .
One of the greatest pleasures democrats/liberals have in life is to almost everyday see/hear a high profile conservative/Republican outed as the friggin MONUMENTAL hypocrites they are.Why would you want to take this pleasure away from us??
There is ABSOLUTELY NO EVIDENCE that these friggin moralizing ,holier-than-thou conservatives/Republicans are any more "moral/ethical" than the rest of us.
IN FACT,there are a host of statistics from divorce to sexually transmitted diseases to violent crime rates to dead beat dads etc that show in those states where the moralizing conservative Christian fundamentalists form a major part of the population ,these family value DESTROYERS are the highest.
Needless to say ,most of these fundy states are in the South .
No matter how many of these raginh hypocrites are outed, they still spew their "family values" crap. They must think the rest of us are as dumb/stupid as they are.

Oh no, they do have family values... for the families who still have both parents. They couldn't give a fig about single-parent families, as those marriages and relationships have "failed".
In a Republican's eyes, you don't deserve anything if you can't stay in a committed relationship.

Vitter should be commended for sleeping with a FEMALE prositute. Most Republicans seem to prefer underage boys.

I think both are important. We should judge our elected officials not just on what they say, but what they do and base our votes on that. When you step into the public service realm, all is fair game. Your private life is no longer private, nor are your business relations private. They should be there for ALL to see. If you have nothing to hide then why not disclose everything. We need to elect politcians who are trust worthy, honest and work for the American people and who have our best interests in mind.

I love it when cons are caught with their pants down. And, so many of them are caught in gay relationships or with prostitutes these days. They do need to give up their "family values' campaign because they always show themselves as hypocrits again and again on this subject and whole lot of others. Telling everyone to have family values and then going behind his wife's back and having sex with prostitutes is called hypocrisy. If it is an illegal 'escort' service, then it is breaking the law and he should be convicted.
