The problem is that people hear $30m, but they don't see it in the context of a multi-billion dollar operation like MLB. Does anyone deserve to make $30 million to play a sport? If the revenues are there, then why not?
I agree, the salary issue gets beaten to death. Alex, like any other pro athlete, is worth whatever a team pays him.

Yeah, it's not A-Rod's fault people will pay him more than any athlete is really worth. Who is going to turn down triple their worth just because they think they are paid too much? A-Rod has said he isn't worth all he is paid. I mean he pretty much said it is ridiculous.
Let's say you go in for a job interview and get the job. You then discuss salary and they say they are going to pay you 170,000. What, are you going to say oh that's too much...I'm only worth around $100,000? So keep your $70,000?
And to the people on here whining about him being overpaid, then how about you grab a bat/glove and start practicing. Don't be jealous of the man. People have some nerve. People could question your worth at your job as well, so stop it already!

I wish I got paid $30 million a year, heck I'd be happy with $3 million, why be greedy. I do agree with your point though.

Yeah, lets talk about how much I get paid too? A-Rod makes more money in one at bat that I do in a year.

Sounds good, How much do you get paid? On your question, I would disagree A-Rod cares how much he gets paid!

Amen!!!! No one should be paid that much anyway...and if someone should, give it to teachers, doctors, fire fighters, police officers, etc...
Here is a mind blowing figure from A-Rod's current deal ($252 million)
A-Rod, over the course of this contract, is making $2866...AN HOUR! That means, he makes more in one week sleeping, than I make all year.
$2866 an hour, every hour of every day, for 10 years!
Truely overpaid!
