I'm stuck between getting a laptop for college which is coming up soon. I'm going to major in electronic media (video editing) so I'm stuck between these two. The Macbook with 1 GB of RAM and 120 GB of hard drive, although I'm adding an extra gig of RAM and the Final Cut Express program. Or the Toshiba Satillite, with 2 GB of RAM and 200 GB of hard drive. The Macbook is an extra 500, so it's 1,500. While the Satillite is 1,000. I'm worried that if I change my major I'll have a Macbook with all this video editing software for nothing. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

The Macbook is a great laptop.

If you do end up switching majors, and your new major requires Windows, the MB will be able to handle that as well using Boot Camp or Parallels.

Of course you'll need to buy a copy of Windows and maybe Parallels.
