y = 3x : slope is 3 and y intercept is 0 : You get this by making sure the y is on one side alone, and the x and number on the other side. The slope is the # in front of the x, and the y intercept is the last number with no x attached.
y = 5x + 8 : Reading the above, you can see the slope is 5 and the y intercept is 8
-9x + 8y = 22 : Add 9x to both sides to get 8y = 9x + 22
Divide by 8 to get y alone and get y = (9/8)x + 11/4 : Now you can see that the slope is 9/8 and the y intercept 11/4.
-8x -9y = 45 : Add 8x to both sides to get -9y = 8x + 45
Divide by -9 to get y alone and get y = (8/-9)x - 5 : Now you can see that the slope will be -8/9 and the y intercept is -5

Just remember y=mx+b, where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept. It makes sence if you think about it, the y-intercept is y where x=0, and when x is 0 y is b.
The first one's slope is just 3, and its y intercept is 0.
The second one's slope is 5, and y-intercept is 8.
The next two are set up as Ax+By=C. The slope would be -A/B. The y-intercept would be C/B. You could also put it into y=mx+b if that is easyer for you.
So, the first one's slope is 9/8.
The second one has a slope of -8/9 and y-intercept of -5.

The general formula for a line is y=mx+b. In this equation, m defines the slope, and b the y-intercept.
So, if you have the equation (like above) y = 5x + 8, you have m=5, so, the slope is 5; and b=8, so the y=intercept is at point (0,8).

Eq. of the line is Y =mX +c.
m = slope , c =y-intercept.
1.) slope = 3
Y intercept = 0
2.) slope = 5
Y intercept = 8
3.) divide the eq. by 8
y = 9/8(x) + 22/8
slope = 9/8
y-intercept = 22/8
4.) divide the eq. by -9
y = -8/9 (x) - 5
slope = -8/9
y intercept = -5

y = 3x
slope = 3
Cuts y axis at (0 , 0)
y = 5x + 8
slope = 5
Cuts y axis at (0 , 8)
-9x + 8y = 22
8y = 9x + 22
y = (9/8)x + 22 / 8
y = (9/8)x + 11 / 4
slope = 9 / 8
Cuts y axis at (0 , 11/4)
8x + 9y = - 45
9y = - 8x - 45
y = (- 8/9) x - 5
slope = (- 8/9)
Cuts y axis at (0 , - 5)

1. slope of the line is always the coffecent of x only if it says y= and cannot be -y=, you must evaluate compeletly for y to find the slope of the line
so its 3
2. same rule as 1st one not worring about the constant
so its 5
3. now solve for the y
so the eqution now is y=9/8x+11/4
so its 9/8
4. again solve for y and you change the sign b/c its -9 in front of y
y=-8x-5
