...Why do you like this perticular section? Do you answer questions elsewhere or only here?
Personally, I love this section! Its a wonderful place to learn about other peoples beliefs and opinions! Also, I would prefer to sit and think about life rather than whos going to be evicted from Big Brother or whats going to happen in Eastenders!
Not only great philosophers, but theres great people here too. Where else would you think about whether you would rather be a square or a triangle?!

Hehe! :-) Very well put! Philosophy is the best section on Y!A and you know very well that I've signed in just because of Philosophy! I like philosophy because it takes your mind to a new level of thinking with your mind as well as with your heart which is a very important skill in life! It brings out questions that your mind never gave time to and you come up with answers that surprise yourself! It is actually a way to know or unlock another door to the person you are and hopefully that should help us into becoming better individuals. This section's depth also brings us a great deal of knowledge and wisdom as it requires understanding; for we are always reading the questions and answers of others which even though we don't realise will become a part of our thoughts. It will be there at the back of our mind helping us when uncertainty sinks in! It is also a stage to project my voice and my ideas! :-)
I do go elsewhere(just started) and that's only because some of my contacts ask questions in other sections...So yes, Philosophy is indeed the best section on Y!A for me! :-) And thank you for introducing it to me! :-)

Here is the dimension in the mind that I thought simply does not exist. It is wonderful to interact with one of the most intelligent, curious and interesting people on earth. It is as if here is a world in its own way: free from prejudice, free from pedantic snobbery, and intellectual pride and prejudices, social biases and extremist rhetoric. This is sheer pleasure to receive just goodness of the mind from others and being able to exercise mine in return. Big Brother could only be philosophical if thoughtfulness there is not stifled off by the vulgar manifestation of libido … if not then all would ask just one simple question – what on earth are we doing here? The same question the answer to which we try to figure out here. The best answer is in just being happy around here ... and that’s what I think why most people come here for. It is reassuring to me to know that I am with happy and thoughtful people … next question please!

Well, thanks. You have changed my mind about why people come to this section. I will now stop trying to tell people to post in other areas when I think their question is not philosophy. I give. I still think asking what type of ice cream you would be if you were an ice cream does not meet the requirements for the section, but I'll complain no longer. If people come here because it is a more open an understanding section to post to; that is almost good enough.

Philosophy is something only for the strong of heart and strong of mind. Therefore in philosophy section, I get to be kinda superior. Here there be real questions.

I enjoy fishing but have never caught a Char ;-)
I agree with you char-it is a great place to learn about people and the way they think. If you ever fancy going fishing please let me know!!
Yes it is a fish. We can go after The Arctic Char char if you like-which is very tasty.
