Is the company as a whole guilty of racism? I don't know. I only know of my own experience. I'll share it with you--- I was interviewed by them years ago when I was a teenager. It was a "group interview". Since we were all interviewed in the same room, I could hear everything that was said while the supervisor spoke with each potential employee. After the interviewing process was completed, the supervisor left the room for a while and then returned to announce who was hired. I was the only white person who attended, the only person who had experience, and the only person who wasn't hired. Did I ever try to do anything about this? No. I was only a teenager and had no clue as to how to fight such a thing. I had almost the exact same experience with another company.

I don't believe so. It would help if I knew exactly what you were referring to when you say "racist." Are you talking about the customers that shop there, or the employees they hire, or both? I personally haven't had any racist experiences with Target, but on the other hand I live in the whitest area imaginable, so the issue doesn't really come up =)

No, and if your talking about the lawsuit about the two black women that claim racial profiling let me tell you a little something...
I've worked as a Loss Prevention Officer for over 3 years and in several stores. There IS profiling in these companies. But is Target one of them, I don't believe so.
As for the women that are suing, we don't know all of the facts that would explain why they feel they were discriminated against.
There are several things that a LP has to look for before they can make a stop...
1) selection
2) concealment
3) go past all points of purchase
4) exit store w/selected item/items
If a PL saw maybe 1 or 2 of these things he may feel justified in asking for a receipt. The store does have to right to ask ANYONE for a receipt upon exiting a store.

Sad how most of you are ignorant enough to speak from your own experience as though your experience with Target stores in certain areas are an indication of what an entire corporation is like. No wonder there is so much racism........... So many people are ignorant and clueless and choose to judge based upon their limited sight, hearing, and so called knowledge. Damn, you people are pathetic.

No, I don't believe Target is a racist store....not sure how it could be...there are tons of their stores and tons of employees....so, I'm sure something racist has happened somewhere along the line that involved an employee. More common than this, however, I'm sure there are many victim mentality drama junkies that accused them of being racist for selling white shirts or something silly like that.

Nah, Target is a pretty ok store. I like their electronics, videogames, and music section. Oh and sometimes at random the black security guards do check the receipt if you're wondering ;)

I'm Black, shop at target and have never heard that before. Until I hear from people I know that they have been discriminated against or treated unfairly there, I'll keep shopping there.
