Okay.....first of all....Christ...at the beginning of the word Christmas. Are you really an Atheist?? If you don't believe in God...why do you celebrate something that celebrates God??

I think some atheist do celebrate Chrismas its just that they don't celebrate it as the birth of christ. Some celebrate Christmas because our goverment and workplaces, schools, etc have chosen to close at that time, so it is a time when their loved ones are free to gather and enjoy each others' company. Maybe an atheist celebrates being with them, all together at the same time.

An atheist would not celebrate Christmas-at least not the Christian aspects-given that an atheist believes there is no God

Do you honestly think most Americans know the true meaning of Christmas? Give me a break, if it was such a religious holiday why is Santa Clause a more recognized figure than Jesus? This holiday is about money and nothing else....Grow up..

Of course, it's traditional. We have had a mid-winter festival for many thousands of years - the Christian label is just a new twist on an old tradition.

OK, I should have said some - or most - do, but not all.

Of course!

Christmas was originally a pagan holiday anyway... I'm not saying that Atheists are pagans!
