Hi and Good morning Fourthy.....I couldn't agree with you more! My sentiments exactly! Our Founding Forefathers would be rolling over in their graves right now after seeing the corruption that's going on in our government today! It's pathetic. Now I imagine that our government had it's flaws back in the 1700's but nothing compared to what it is today. The word "Liberalism" has changed with the times. And the ideals behind it. What is Liberalism? Liberalism is an ideology that believes in the following social values: freedom, individualism, inequality, pragmatism and humanism. It also means a political orientation that favors progress and reform. So the question is, do our liberals today think the same way as our Founding Forefathers believed in. I believe that in some aspects they try to have the same belief but in their own way of thinking. Some of their ideals of liberalism is a joke. They use the term liberalism as an excuse or as an escape route for their own ideal/view. Our Founding Forefathers wanted a different government that would benefit the new land and country and it's people. This ideal has gone with the wind so do speak. The liberals today have the right intentions but they don't follow through what they promised. They say one thing but do another. Then they take us Americans for granted. Like taking candy from a baby. This isn't high school, this is grade school kid games. Have a great day!

Let us get on things straight, the founding fathers’ “liberal” prospect was of thought and to create a nation of freedom, for freedom and about freedom. The freedom to live in a clean respected society, the freedom to think, talk and behave according to the common sense of what is right
As for the modern liberals, well I only say that using one feather is enough, do not go and use the whole chicken!
Sorry for the imagery, but one should never compare heaven and hell just because they are there in the afterlife…

Absolutely right. The problem with most of the modern liberals is that they are confused. Yes, there are many of them who are dishonest as well (though those could probably be better described as Socialists). These liberals actually believe that government is a friend of liberty, rather than its enemy and thus, they support policies that destroy liberty.
Murray Rothbard regarded modern liberalism as a confused middle-of-the-road ideology between classical liberalism and classical conservatism. Modern liberals believe in using the means of Hobbes to achieve the ends of Locke and wonder why they end up with the ends of Hobbes.

The answer to your question is that the American public has been conditioned to crave security and comfort. We need to remember at the time of the founding, almost all Americans were either farmers or tradesman, who relied on themselves for their own survival. With the spawn of the industrial revolution, things began to change. Technology has brought instantaneous comfort and gratification. We are now children waiting our turn for feeding at the federal trough.

You must remember these are the same ones who want socialized medicine. Get it? " free" happy pills for everyone. By the way Bill did inhale, but just not enough.

they would also abhor you lack of commen sense, and you willingness to attack your fellow American, any chance you get.
in my opinion, our founding fathers would have shot the extremists of both sides of the political spectrum.
Afterall, they did shoot many of the right-wingers when they where wearing red coats. Socialist countries never really tried to invade at that time, but I'm sure they would have shot them as well.

For there time they were liberals, just like the people who are liberals now for there time. Liberals are responsible for all the great social and scientific changes in history and conservatives have fought it, if it was up to conservatives we would all be living in caves throwing sticks at animals.

Agreed. The founding fathers wanted to minimize Government influence on the people. Today's liberals want to expand the government's power by creating socialized welfare programs, like socialized medicine.

I could care less what the founders envisioned or wanted, they are dead (and they were after all elitist slave owners)
Our country and society is a dynamic living entity. We have to flow with time, look to the present and the future and do what is best. The founders vision is irrelevant now (and why do you think you know more about their vision than anyone else anyway?)
