I belive that he also had a foundry in Paris.Any information on this artist please

L. Oudry seems to be an old French foundry, not the artists J.B. or J.C.Oudry (though it may be the same family), that ran the gamut from fine objects of art (19th c.) to bookends (20th c). Without seeing your box.. and I'm sure it's lovely... it's difficult to know more. Here are some links which provide an assortment and may give you some frame of reference :

The Oudry family were French painters and engravers in the eighteenth century. Is it a metal box? Is it decorated? Is it really well made? What sort of age would you guess it to be? It could well be a sample design made before being put into production as the name suggests
