I've found this website great::

"The Just Landed Guide is designed to help you deal with the day-to-day challenges of living, working or studying in Australia. It is full of useful information and step-by-step guides on how things work and how to survive in Australia."

Just by my own experiance, ive gotten by with $160 a week, but thats pretty spartan. I was in a shared house at $60 rent, $20 for bills and $80 to live off.

But otherwise if you want to rent your own place, and have a bit of fun on weekends, then your looking at around $150 minimum for rent in the suburbs, and more like $150 for fun. I'd have a gess and say you would be pretty good to get by on $300-$350 per week.

G'day,

This may be intended for international students in Melbourne, but you can draw some comparisons from the tables and charts.

Hope this helps. Good luck on your move and welcome to Melbourne :)
