Whatever you've heard is almost certainly true. You wouldn't have heard it, otherwise.

You ought to be able to see from these answers that we all know one hell of a lot about what isn't.

Unfortunately, we only know what isn't because we haven't witnessed it, and generally someone else has told us it isn't.

And we chose to believe what we were told.

If you honestly want to know what is, what is not, you're going to have to approach the quest of knowing through personal study, discipline, and time. After you've done so, you'll be able to judge what is and what is not, for yourself.

You won't have to rely on what a group of strangers tell you.

I know this is a Chi-sey answer, but that depends on what you mean by Chi! What most people think Chi (or Qi) is, does not exist in the way in which they think it does. Chi is a Chinese word that signifies the "natural energy of the universe" in a supernatural manner. This is a type of vitalism, which is the belief that everything in the universe possesses an inner energy that gives them life.

Now, as with many ideas favored by the "New Age" spiritualists, the concept of Chi is based on something probably true and meaningful that could be said about the nature of the universe, however their desire to profit (whether with money, fame, pseudo-intellectual acclaim, what have you) drives them to add so much ridiculousness on to it that the meaningful, useful taste of truth it once had is obscured into oblivion.

There is much that can be said of the similarities between human and human, between human and rock, and between individual and cosmos. It is likely that everything that exists is fashioned from the same stuff and is interconnected, interrelated, and that you aren't nearly as far from being a sun around which orbit planets populated by the ever-becoming machine elves as you think you are.

However, all the truly cool consequences of the basic idea of the "natural energy of the universe" are covered up by the pathetically anthropomorphic, earthy, greedy lies about "Qi Knockouts", psychic healing, and cheap parlor tricks that give the real meaning of Chi such a bad name.

I saw a myth busting scientist, that stood in front of a martial arts master that performed an invisible "chi blast" and nothing happened to him...however it worked on his students very well.

I am opposed to anything which another person can use to mentally or physically control me, especially without me being able to resist or be aware of its influence.

Personally I think that a powerful punch is all in the technique, right down to the very fine details of the body movement and coordination. People like to doubt this fact because most would find it hard to admit that there are areas in thier technique that can be improved upon.

Every living being is electrically charged, just breathing and blood or lymph running generates energy, that's it, that's chi.

But I suppose you could expand it with some spiritual/energetic activities like Qi kong or meditation and so forth... why not

The only way for you to know would be to learn about it for yourself. It's stupid to assume it's fake or real by the opinions of others. Find your own opinion.
