It is wrong, but most kids do stuff like that (I think). I used to burn bugs, blow lightning bugs up with firecrackers so all that was left was the glowing part, throw a cricket in spider web to watch the spider attack and eat it, put black ants in a jar full of red ants and watch them fight. It seemed harmless at the time.

Well, yeah, it's wrong. Why would you even bother?
I've always kept an eye on my kids when it comes to these things because torturing insects, animals, etc. is a possible sign of trouble that warrants further attention. Too many parents brush this off.

Some religions would say you could be ripping off the wings of your reincarnated (but long dead) grandparent. Now what would your folks say about that??
(And what happens when you become reincarnated as one, only to be caught by another you?)
