There are two possibilities.
1) “Unless you assume a God, the question of life’s purpose is meaningless.” –Bertrand Russell (noted philosopher, mathematician and atheist). So unless we hold that God exists, we have no choice but to admit there is no purpose to life. If that is the case, what you are seeking is some meaningless FEELING of purpose and meaning and worth. You have to fill your life with empty busyness or invent some purpose and pretend it's true - anything to get that feeling.
2) We are created beings. If this is the case, then the greatest quest of all time presents itself - to seek the One who created you.
We don't have to be certain that God even exists to seek Him. So seek God or seek meaningless feelings.

Depending how old you are, you might not know what your purpose is for sometime. You have a lot to learn before you can act on your purpose. You might still be in your learning stage of life. Soon enough you will look back and realize what that purpose is. Sometimes it might just be to affect one persons life. You may have already done that and not have known. Try not to feel that you have not accomplished much. You do more than you think and more than you will ever know in this lifetime.

First off, get a job. If you are thinking about what your purpose in life is, then you have too much time on your hands, and are wasting your precious time on Earth thinking about it. Find a girlfriend since im assuming you dont' have one of those either, and get married and start a family. Sadly, this is the only ultimate purpose in life, to procreate and pass on your genes to the next generation. This is the way nature is designed. Forget these losers telling you to read the bible, not unless you want to deceive yourself and become a braindead zombie who believes in all kinds of fairy tales. It will do nothing except fill your head with nonsense, and it will definetly not give meaning to your life.

I know how u feel. For awhile I felt the same way. I just started paying more attention to my actions, and noticing what I really needed to change in my life. Its not easy, but it feels so good when you set some goals for yourself and accomplish them. Not even a big goal. Start with something small; like making your bed every morning, or writing down a list of what you will do for each day of the week.; and then work your way up.
Best of luck

First, I suggest you look to what you would miss most if it weren't there. That might give you a clue as what you would like to support with your time and money. Next, you might find what you most appreciate about the people you admire and adopt some of their life causes as your own. You should be commended on looking for purpose, some go throughout life without even contemplating the question.

You, your heart, your inner voice.
Do some meditation, spend time in nature, look at the sun, the moon, the stars, feel the rain, the snow, the breeze...
Read books, see inspiring movies, go to life coaching if you need...
They will help, but eventually, the answer is within you.
Take your time, you will find it when it comes.
Good luck!
It's a great question!

You were created for God's pleasure. Surrender your life to the Lord and let Him give you your purpose that He has for you. Find you a good Bible believing church. Read the Bible each day so God can speak to you.
Revelation 4:11
Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power: for thou has created all things, and for thy pleasure
they are and were created.
That verse of Scripture tells us why God created us. Submit your life to the Lord and He will give you a better understanding of your purpose in life.
