Even more die from perscription drug use, and we even had someone die from BEN GAY recently. There have never been any reported overdoses or deaths from marijuana.
So why is marijuana still illegal? I believe politicians do not have enough information to make a sound decision about marijuana legalization. I also believe that politicians who work for the interest of big business feel that marijuana smokers typically do not have the ideal mindset to support a greedy capitalist nation.
What do you think? Please back up your opinion with details and facts.

I wish people would get this notion out of thier head that people who smoke marijuana are lazy. Many people who smok marijuana daily are functioning and important members of society....doctors, lawyers, judges, you name it, there is a successful person out there who smokes marijuana. Stop the insanity people!!!

You did not say where you are. There are certain places in this world that makes the use of marijuana legal.
Have you thought of emigrating to there?
This is my recommendation from Washington, D.C.

The use of marijuana became illegal after the medicinal substance in marijuana was synthesized. They were able to produce the good part of marijuana without any of the bad side effects that take place with the use of marijuana. Blame the Drug Manufacturers

Amphetamine 384
Ecstasy 227
Solvents 246
Opiates (heroin, morphine & methadone 4,976
Alcohol 25,000-200,00 approximate
Tobacco 500,000 appoximate
Although smoking marijuana may be detrimental to your health, no-one has died of an overdose and of all the drugs that kill them most people which are alcohol and tabacco they are the only ones that are legal(here in the UK). I know loads of people who smoke marijuana and take other drugs like coke etc and the fact that it's illegal dosn't deter anyone from buying drugs, infact I think it does the opposite, also drug dealers would not exist nor would most gangs and the violence they dish out to rivals and people who do not pay they're drug money on time. Many of my friends take drugs and smoke marijuana and just want to have fun and don't harm anyone while high, infact they get in far worse trouble when they drink alcohol. I do not take drugs myself as I train in martial arts and do lots of other training so I need to be in peak condition, but I see nothing wrong with taking drugs or smoking pot as long as you do other people no harm. Also they say drugs are bad for your health, but if you take them in moderation usually you will be fine. I know many people who are very fit but still go out on the weekend take ecstacy and smoke a bit of pot every now and then and they are perfectly fine. The laws in place in each country should be to ensure a fair, equal and safe society yet making marijuana and other drugs like cocaine illegal is not protecting us, it is a supression of our freedom.

If you've never worked in Mental Health or health care in general than don't post irresponsible things like this. You want to see the Damage? You want to see lives and dreams lost forever due to that little weed? These are statisticaly considered as part of the Health and Mental Health Statistics and not placed among the Drug Stats. These individuals tend to just drift out of peoples view and out of society so we don't really notice their exit with alot of fanfare but Go to the state facilities and meet the victims or talk to a Mental Health Professional and I'm sure they can assist you. I promise they are there in significant numbers, as are the prisons too. Statics will tell you nothing with any amount of accuracy, People will tell you everything you need to know. With accuracy and conviction.
BTW: Pot can cause spontaneous and transient Cardiomiopathies all the time as do all the Hallucinogens which result in sudden death. These are of course registered as Cardiac and not drug related deaths (Stats are only as good as the source data that are provided to them) so get your facts straight Madam.
EDIT: You're doing your best to rationalize with the "Bandwagon appeal" that even Professional level advocates are in my corner. The reality is that people who use Marijuana are Lethargic and have a sharply reduced Mental acuity and cannot perform. You cannot defend the consumption and abuse of mind altering and sensibility diffusing Hallucinogenics that debilitate ones ability to participate as a functional and constructive component of our society. I know of no successful professional person who does or has done that in the past and is still practicing or is still alive, and that is a fact. They may have functioned for a time but only a time and they never advanced or excelled. They have either committed suicide (Just recently) or some other event has led to their professional or personal demise. I've been around a few years longer than you my dear. I smoked dope for years myself and payed the price so don't think you're talking to some chump here, when I tell you I'm a little older than you... Believe me!!

People may night die for pot but the long term effects of it are bad for you. And people who smoke are less likely to want to work.

Put your head where they are.
It is nearly impossible to regulate it.
Since people can just grow it at home.
And this argument has been going around and around, if you think your sudden realization is going to do anything, just remember that you are a nobody

Just what the world needs, more stoners and deadbeats. If you have to live your live with any "crutch" to make it, then I feel sorry for you.
Name 10 people who smoke dope all the time, that are productive! Please, get off the dope soap box
