All of the members of the committees that have anything to do with the military, dems and cons. visit Iraq every few months. The Dems running for office have all been to Iraq, or so they said during the debates.

I am astounded that the military refused to have a photo op with Kerry who has 3 purple hearts. Also, it isn't the Democrats who cut funding for the military, it was the Republicans as part of the way to give us our tax cut. The republicans also tried to keep the raise for the military down by 1/2 percent. Look at your .gov sites. Watch CSPAN once in a while. That is live coverage of the Congress and Senate.

"Staying the course" and fighting a loosing battle is just as lame an excuse as saying we shouldn't have gone in the first place. I agree that we can't invent a time machine and change the past, but by the same token those who support the war don't have a crystal ball and can't predict a positive outcome for the future. Do the right want our troops to stay and die so that the Republicans can make political gain? Your argument sounds to me like a "Death before dishonor" kind of thing, the only problem is that this war is bringing us both. I agree with you that we can't just up and leave. But somewhere between that far left sentiment and the far right sentiment (that we should stay indefinitely) there is a better, more diplomatic answer. Violence begets violence. We are not by any stretch of the imagination doing much of anything to quell the death and violence in Iraq and every time we fire a bomb or a gun we only add to it, no matter how we try to quanlify or justify it. Sometimes the real victory is in accepting defeat and moving on from that.

Good question the last one I remember seeing in Iraq, was Hillary Clinton, and that has been a while as well wow very question.
I know a lot of Democrats from the House and the Senate, have been to Iraq, but your right I don't know of any Democratic Presidential candidate since Kerry, and were talking 2004,that has been over there I would love to know that one myself because there vote will count as well in 08,you would think they would make and effort to go see our men and women in uniform and I know I am also a veteran myself and so is my son a U.S.Marine.

This is what Kerry thinks of our soldiers: "You know, education - if you make the most of it - you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don't, you get stuck in Iraq." I wouldn't pose with someone who insinuates I'm stupid.

The soldiers are watching what's going on in politics. They hear John Murtha's disgusting comments. They hear the litany of defeatist comments from Democrats. Now a few Republicans are jumping in. I think what our Congress has done and said about our soldiers is unforgivable. It is the worse display of non support ever given to soldiers. What makes it even worse is that it's motivated by politics. They're willing to wreck havoc on our soldiers morale for the sake of their political careers. It disgusts me.

When was the last time a Republican went to visit our troops? Why would the troops take a picture with ANY Republican? Since they're the reason our troops are there in the first place! Let's NOT forget that the majority in BOTH the House and the Senate were REPUBLICANS up until 2006 and that they pretty much passed whatever legislation Bush wanted and vice versa.

They don't go to Iraq because they know the troops don't want them there. The Dems have already announced that we have lost the war. Our troops don't need them over there stinking up the place.

I think you answered your own question.
The troops know who wants them to LOOSE.
They didn't join the military to be losers so why fraternize with losers?
Why associate with those who have declared they LOATH the military?

That'd be like a Republican visiting the ACLU or an Abortion clinic. Different Ideals.

Dems know they can't get much support from the Military so they focus elsewhere. One of the reason I like being in the Army is we literally elect our bosses. Why would we elect someone who is going to decrease our pay and benefits and possibly try to cut our jobs?

Same reason they don't debate on FOX News - you want a positive atmosphere when you're campaigning.
