If you live in London very soon you will have to pay 10p in TAX for every plastic bag. FANTASTIC!!! Can't wait to see what is next. Don't you think this should be top down and they should implement solutions first rather than reach for the TAX button? But did you really expect anything else? We have been saying it for years. Global Warming is the best bandwagon in the world to jump on when you want to raise TAX.
This is just the begining people.

See this is the thing that really annoys me. Scientists are yet to prove beyond doubt that Global Warming is too blame for climate change. In the life of our planet, humans have been on it for about 5 minutes and we suddenly decide that because we have weather records for the last 15 seconds, that we understand how our planet works. Never trust a scientist, they keep rewriting the rules of physics so that what was previously impossible can now be explained by science. I think that says it all.

Well for one, it costs money to dispose of every bag that ends up in the landfill, as landfills get full. And then there are the ones that get tossed on roadsides everywhere on the planet.
I see people getting double and triple bags for one item here in the states. I wish it would stop.
On the rare occasion that I forget my cloth bags (some which I have had for over ten years) I have to resort to those crappy plastic bags that they give out at the market. I swear, the clerks are paid to use as many bags as possible. I mean, they put my TP in a separate bag, because it was a non-food item.
Give me a break. This should have nothing to do with climate change, but sheer waste of resources, and adding more rubbish to our already trashed planet. There's garbage everywhere!
They shouldn't put a ten pence tax on every plastic bag, it should be ten QUID!
Maybe then people would learn to carry around their own darn bags, and create less garbage!

Well, think about it though, the tax won't work if everyone re-uses the plastic bags or gets (or you can even make your own) re-usable bags. There would be nothing to tax.
Just for the record, I do agree that they'll use any excuse to tax something. Got a problem? Just tax it and it will go away!

The UK produces only 2 per cent of the world's carbon emissions so nothing we do will make much difference unless the US, China and India play their part. That is why it has always been about tax in this country. Our politicians are so dumb that they think we don't see this.

I do not care what the scientists who are independent but paid for by the government say. Global warming is here and their is B----- all we can do about it. It is a natural phenomena which has gone on since the last ice age This country uses global emission of 2% of total world emissions but this bunch of baskets want us to bear the whole cost of stopping it. Until USA China and India are on board whatever we do will make no difference and frankly I do not believe it will alter anything anyway. It's just another excuse to tax us and waste our money on "flagship projects " whatever they are

I do not believe any of the "Bull Crap Hype" that man has caused this phenomenon. Global warming and global cooling, it has been happening before man stepped onto the planet, When Mount St. Helen's blew her top she pumped into the atmosphere more crap in one hour than man can produce in ten years but after three years there was no trace of it in the atmosphere, many more volcanoes sent up enough pollutant to cause massive famine in 500 Ad. this again cleared after three years. (thousands of cubic kilometres of poison) good job there were no politicians around then, or they would have blamed the human race
and to your last additition YEP

And the bad part about the tax is that it will not implement the development for a better future. It will only make the government more profitable.
