Not everyone has a yard they're allowed to post lines to dry clothes on. And they do not want dripping clothes hanging all over their apartments. I do prefer hang drying though.

Most people in the US have automatic air dryers for their wet clothes because they have neither the time nor the space to hang them up to dry. More City people people live in rental apartments, duplexes, or houses with no yard space for hanging laundry. And with two or three jobs, most people don't have the time to hang up all their laundry. Those who don't have their own washer and dryer take their laundry to the laundromat and use the coin-operated automatic clothes washers and dryers once a week. Some people DO hang up their laundry, but some people also don't like bugs or smog and dust particles in their clothes and sheets hung outside.
It's not that it's not a good thing, it's just that hanging up laundry is the last thing they want to do when it only costs a dollar or so to dry a load of clothes.

1- People who live in apartments don't have anywhere to hang their clothes outside.
2-Dryers are more efficient, and don't cause wrinkles as outside air drying does. Then you also have to iron the clothes
but not with dryers.
3- Drying outside your clothes become to stiff, again back to the ironing.
I remember when I was small my mother would take almost a day to do the laundry. First she had to wash them in the wringer washing machine. Then she had to use 3-4 seperate
clothes lines to dry them and that would take a better part of the day. Then she had to go back and take them all off the line, bring them in and iron and fold them. If it was a real windy day some of the clothes would fly off in the neighbors yard or futher, never to be seen again. And of course if it was raining she could not hang the wash out to dry. Or if it started to rain, she would have to rush to get the clothes back in off the line. Too time consuming.

1) Its faster and efficient.
2) For certain clothes like silk, there are rods in the laundry closet or bathroom where you can hang dry.
3) Regulations - space and the fact that very less people do laundry everyday but keep it for weekends and that means tons of clothes
4) Lot of places like (NY, NJ) most of the months are cold and cannot use the outdoors to hang dry anyway.

Like others, I assume you mean using a dryer vs hanging clothes on a clothesline.
Who has time to hang up all their clothes? A dryer is faster, and I often am doing laundry at night or early in the morning before going to work.
Clothes hung outside are stiff, and what about bird droppings? Also, if you have allergies, doctors don't recommend hanging them outside. Pollen gets on your clothes or sheets.
If I have things that can be washed but not dried, I hang them on a line in the basement or over the shower rod, but that's only for a few items.

Air dry is quicker and more efficient. But I prefer hang dry for all my shirts and pants and skirts and dresses because it's easier on my clothes. It keeps them nicer for much longer. The only things I put into the dryer are sheets, towels, socks and underwear.

Culture I guess.
I live in the US and use a dryer for linens and underwear.
WRINKLES and SAVINGS:
I also use it for about five minutes on my clothes to get the major wrinkles out then I hang them up damp so the clothes last longer and don't shrink.
This not only saves on electricity (or gas), but it also helps the dryer to last longer.
PET HAIR:
As another poster mentioned, those of us with pets that shed find that the dryer really helps to remove the hair.

My Mom used to hang out all the laundry. It always smelled very fresh. The only problem was everything was always stiff and ruff feeling. The dryers now days leave the clothes softer.

Do you mean why do they prefer using dryers than hanging their laundry out?
If thats what you mean, its probably because a) its faster, and b) a lot of cities have laws that make it illegal to hang your laundry out to dry.....a lot of people consider it very unsightly and dont want to look at everyone else's wet laundry :)

Ive continually used a blowdryer, and nonetheless do. properly, I towel dry it first for like 30 min, then blowdry after. I purely enable it air dry interior the summertime, as a results of fact my hair gets wavy as quickly as I enable that take place. I dont prefer to flow to college with wavy, quite frizzy and tangled hair, in case you recognize what I mean. yet yea, air drying does make your hair shinier I desire blowdrying however, I dont would desire to worry approximately catching a cold in while it is moist in chilly climate!
