Best example is the two invasions of Russia. Napoleon did and got whipped by the Russian winter. Hitler did it again and got whipped again by the Russian winter.

Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

History does not repeat itself, but there are consistent themes from the past that can teach the present/future. For example:
1. As mentioned before, don't invade Russia during the winter.
2. Masses of hungry peasants are dangerous.
3. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.
How many more do you need?

Yes because the jews have been persecutedmany times. First by the romans. Then the spanish during the spanish inquisition. Then by hitler in the Holocaust.

We also constantly go to war. We dont realize that that is a bad thing and people die.

People used to look for the fountain of youth and most didnt return alive.

Good Question!

Actually history does repeat itself. Not the specific actual things, like we don't have the Roman Empire back-but in general things. For instance wars are repeated, time and time again. Because people do not learn. They make the same general mistakes again and again. They don't have the prerequisits of justice and understanding and they don't talk to one another-a lot of times. Hence wars happen, again and again.

Specific examples include the appeasement of Hilter(which was resonsible for starting World War II) and the appeasement of modern tyrants such Sadam and the terrorists. We, for a long time, because of oil, appeased these. Hence, encouraged to either commit violence and or/ supress their own peoples-war became necissary. In the Roman Empire, powers continuously challenged Rome. History therefore repeated itself in the conquest of those powers by Rome. In the history of the United States, it has continously support corrupt regimes and thus repeatedly gotten itself into trouble. The first instance was in Vietnam, leading to the alienation of many nations on the face of the earth-the latest being Equador under Chevez. However, repeatedly, tyranical powers have challenge the west and supressed people. Repeatedly they have been crushed. Spain(1899), Germany(1918 and 1945) Japan(1945), Argentina(1982), Soviet Communism(1999) and Sadam and the Terrorists(1991 and 2003). History does indeed repeat itself.

One basic repitition in history is the mistakes nations and powers make in being too hard on people, compromising and letting their defences down and making stupid strategical and political errors. Egypt fell when it failed to keep up with the rest of the world and let the priestly cast rule. Assyrian fell when it got too ruthless and too fanatically warlike. Persia fell when it got too arrogant and moved away from it's first power base-the mounted archers. The Hellinistic world fell when it failed to adapt to new methods. Rome fell when it denied it's foundation-the legions and began to treat people badly and became so conservative that it didn't adapt to military and political realities. The Abbysiad Caliphate fell when it allowed divison and became soft. The Mongol empire fell with division and neglect of defence. The Ottomans fell with the neglect of their empire. Spain fell with it's squandering of recourses and opportunities and gross conservatism which failed to adapt it. Empire after empire, power after power has repeatedly fallen with mistakes of a general king made with monotonous repeatidity.

Of course human beings are alike to one another, and are falible-we make mistakes. Hence throughout history like mistakes have repeatedly had like consequences. This is why history repeats itself-in this context. Pray there comes a day when we cease making at least the basic errors. For there is another saying along with "History repeats itself" For historians coined these phrases and have studied history. The other saying is: "Those who do not learn from history are condemmed to relive it". This is why most of what we have of history exsists-because people do not learn. Hope this helps.

Invisible gods repeatedly die throughout history. The Egyptian gods (100+) are all dead. The Greek Titans and Olympian gods are all dead. The Roman gods are all dead. Based on these example we can expect all currently popular gods to be dead within the next 5000 years. Good riddance.
