carbon pollution?
How many of you know that many states offer grant money and low interest loans to install photovoltaic cells on your roof? How many know that a lot of localities give property tax breaks to homes with photovoltaic systems? How many know the federal government gives income breaks to those who install photovoltaic systems?
People who complain about greenhouse gases think the government has done nothing to combat it. With free grant money, low cost loans, and tax breaks, the government has supplied the means for you to do something about it.
If you are concerned about global warming and you own a roof, you can actively do something about cutting emissions.

Photovoltaic cells supply the grid as well as your home. If you only use $30 a month, the electric company would be sending you money every month.

The sun shines brightest during the peak electric consumption months, the summertime. Even in the most nothern areas, photovoltaic cells would cut emissions.

Almost no one knows this. Partly because there is not enough advertising and outreach to let people know and secondly just plain ignorance. How many people know that each Compact Fluorescent Light Bulb contains 5 milligrams of mercury and that without recycling programs for the 10 million bulbs that will go to landfills this year that we are on the verge of a huge water pollution problem? How many people know that the OVERALL environmental impact of a Toyota Prius is worse than that of a Hummer? Until we can produce a battery that works well in cars without the nickel-cadmium plates the Prius does more damage to the environment than almost any other car on the road!
Excellent question, I wish more of us were like you.

What, you think the global warming fanatics use LOGIC??? Gimme a break. Most of them are so scientifically illiterate that they think the moon landings were a government hoax, and that 9/11 was executed by the CIA and FBI.
Al Gore, the poster child for global warming, has a carbon footprint twelve times that of the average person. But he's the SPOKESPERSON????????????????????? What a hypocrite!
They want the US to solve the problem, but we're not even the worst producers of greenhouse gases -- the Chinese are ahead of us now! What buffoons.

Probably not too many because our current government does not promote awareness of all the small things people can do to reduce unnecessary pollution of the atmosphere. When Carter was president, similar measures were publicized as a means to reduce US dependence on foreign oil as well as a way to reduce pollution.

Even with the rebates and credits photovoltaic cells are very expensive and ineffective in the northern hemisphere in the winter when daylight is limited and of course worthless to those living in urban areas in high rises.
I totally agree with you that Americans need to be better educated on alternatives.

Science is science and politics and being politically correct is another. The major contributor by far to greenhouse gases including carbon dioxide is vulcanism. A volcanic eruption contributes more greenhouse gases than man does in a decade. Should congress pass a law prohibiting them from erupting?

Given that my electric bill has never been higher than $30 any month over the past 40 years, it wouldn't pay for me to go solar in that regard - I'd do it if someone threw them all out and I could figure out how to install them or get F R E E advice.
