I am thinking about taking out a business loan and opening a dinner theatre here in Texas. I want to be able to have 2 indoor screens and 2 outdoor (drive-in) screens. I will serve a full menu both inside and out along with a full bar. I want it to be classy but not "ritzy".

I will need to hire at least 10 people to waitress/cook/tend bar.

Any idea how much I should borrow for a business loan?

I dont plan on making my decision based solely on the answers I get from Y!A. I will talk to my bank and other financial experts as well. However I thought maybe someone out there may have been through this (or something similar) in the past.

Time to pick up the phone and start calling these distributors as you would if you were already in business. There really are no shortcuts to this.

Ideas are sexy - success comes after a lot of work.

How much for real estate in the area you want to own your biz? Owning is always wiser than renting. If the biz doesn't work out, you will have income from the real estate. Preferably in a building that has other tenants whether commercial or residential. If out door screens then preferably a commercial building as per zoning etc.

Cost chairs, tables, place settings, kitchen equipment, slaries (managers/cooks/waiters/uniforms) Bar license etc

Walk through the whole business as if it exists as you see it and write down items to find costs. then start your business plan. sounds like you may need a business class. contact your Small Business Admin for assistance as well as SCORE. They are free.

Go to http://www.score.org/ to find the nearest SCORE chapter. In the upper left hand corner is a box to enter your zip code. Your nearest SCORE chapter will be on the next screen. Contact them to arrange for a free one on one meeting with a SCORE counselor to discuss your dinner theater start up.

You need to go talk to a banker, not the folks out here.
