I am paying for the divorce and the lawyer said he is responsible for half the debt until the house is sold but he does not pay enough to cover half the expenses and does not care. The house will go into foreclosure before the divorce is settled through the courts and before it is sold what should i do

get the house sold! even if you have to sell below market, get it sold ...unless, you are so far underneath the mortgage that selling the house won't cover the loan -- then doesn't really matter. but if you've equity, get it sold, or do a home equity loan to cover the costs until it can be sold. if he isn't paying, when the house is sold, you should recoup the extra you've paid. ...make sure you don't hand over half the money then expect to get it back. your divorce attorney should know how to handle this. if not, you have a bad atty

Take the bum straight to court as has been suggested. He has children that need to be taken care of and these days, the courts will see to it that he does! How immature and what a bum. Couldn't you take out a loan so that he can get whatever he has coming? Then you wouldn't have to sell but his sorry butt will have no excuses. Talk to a financial counselor right away. You don't want a foreclosure. If you and the 17 year old have to work at Taco Bell, then do it in order to survive. Foreclosure involves a lot of other things that can really cause you more problems.

I don't know what state you live in but, Selling a house right now because of the market will be hard, Try and sell short if you can find a buyer. Good Luck.

Sell the house yourself don't go through a Realtor why give them anything. All the money you make off your house keep it. Your not getting help now from your ex but in time you will plus have the money from the house.
