Very important. Our family is our means of support. We aren't here to judge your choices but to support you in any decision you make. We don't always agree but that doesn't matter because no matter what happens when we wake up in the morning we are still family and nothing beats that! We are seven total and each of us knows that if we make a bad decision we can count on any of the others to help us out of it even if we haven't talked to them in a while all it takes is a simple phone call or a knock on the door. That's what families should be.

Well, I care about them, but at a distance-both literally and figuratively. I love my dad to death but my mom can be a bit to handle if i spend too much time around her. We talk about once a month and that is good enough for me. I feel people over emphasize the importance of "blood" relatives. It's ridiculous I think. I also feel many people's perceptions of families come not from reality but from crap they see in movies or on TVs. It's funny how when I listen to people gripe about their families it's usually because of unrealistic, unmet expectations that prevail. Family or strangers alike are annoying-why should I be more inclined to deal with their **** just because they are family? This makes no sense. And don't say "because they raised me" that's crap too. That was their decision to have me and I'm not responsible for that nor grateful because I would not have known otherwise if they chose not to have me. See what I mean?

You can choose parts of your family... sure, you can't change your parents and siblings and cousins, but when you go off to start your own family, the choice is completely yours.
Regardless, family is more important than friends could ever be. There's a far stronger connection between kin.

my immediate family is not important to me, in the future when i have my own family then that would be my main priority in life. i see my parents once a month and its only to pay rent to my dad as he owns the house i am living in. i live with my 2 closest friends and we are always there for each other, maybe not in the future when we start settling down but for now my friends play a more important role then my family

My family is extremely important i have 4 children in my immediate family which is excellent but also hard work therefore my extended family are an immense support network which I am eternally grateful for. Friends are great for socialising but family is there no matter what.

I have wished many times that I could choose my family like I choose my friends. I would most likely not choose many of them. My sister and I have not spoken since our mother's funeral because she had let our mother go into a nursing home. I could not do anything about it since we both live in 2 different states. I still have my family and that is my children, daughter-in-law, grandson and my husband.

My family means everything to me. But actually, my family are my closest friends. I mean i can tell them anything and trust them not to tell anyone, and i know they will always be there for me. I know everyone gets into a family feud once in a while but that's life. Though I wish my dad would be nicer to me, my siblings, and my mom's side of teh family.

They're not. My parents are a waste of oxygen and are the only people in the world who make me feel like a ***** for not living with them and supporting them financially but instead, choosing to live with my other half and make a life for myself. I don't need them in my life dragging me down. I don't need anyone really and can look after myself.

well the only family i have are my 3 kids and my brother, and they are so important to me, the rest of them chose to detach themselves so they don't matter to me one bit, i have a happy little family and it's all good...what ever the others do with their lives is totally up to them, i don't have to deal with their baggage or their drama any more, did it once and came out the worst, so all i care about are my 3 sons and my brother, that's it, the rest of them do not exist as far as i am concerned and it's gonna stay that way

Very important. When push comes to shove family will always be there, but friends come and go.
