But now she is starting to wake up in the middle of the night now. Before bed she sucks down 8 oz. But I don't think it is lasting her through the night anymore. My family has told me that it would be ok to give her cereal now if she is still hungry. My mom gave me cereal when I was 3 months and I was fine. I was just wondering if anybody has tried this and if this has worked. Thanks for your answers!!

How much does she weigh? How much formula does she drink during the day? You can really base it off that. My son came home at 10.13 and he was on cereal at 2 months.

Signs of readiness for solid food
Your baby probably won't do all these things — they're just clues to watch for.
• Can hold head up
• Sits well in highchair
• Makes chewing motions
• Shows significant weight gain (birth weight has doubled)
• Shows interest in food
• Can close mouth around a spoon
• Can move food from front to back of mouth
• Can move tongue back and forth, but is losing tendency to push food out with tongue
• Seems hungry after 8 to 10 feedings of breast milk or 40 oz. of formula in a day

I doubt it would do damage if you have her some cereal, but I heard that it doesn't do much for helping them sleep longer.

If she has started waking up during the night to feed, I'd just feed her a bottle or breastfeed her, although I'm sure you'd rather have her sleep through the night. You could try feeding her a bottle an hour or two before bed time, then her regular bottle before bed. That way she'll get more calories during the day and probably won't need as much at night. My son has done this since early on and still does and sleeps well through the night.

Babies just seem to have such unpredictable schedules - they seem to always be changing. Maybe she's going through a growth spurt and this won't last long.

Here's why:

Cereal even before 6 months can make her sick now, give her allergies, give her tendencies to be obese, and is one of the causes of diabetes later in life. To me, it's not worth feeding my baby cereal before 6 months of age because I don't want to hurt his health later on. The problem is they look fine now, but they have life long issues due to early cereal feeding. Do the research, there's a REASON why your doctor gave you that information.

There is NO EVIDENCE in science that cereal will help her sleep better and you might harm her health later. Check out the links below for the hard evidence.

She's probably going through a growth spurt and needs the extra milk to help her growing body.

Don't short her nutritional needs by giving her cereal when what she really needs is more milk.

Why don't you feed her in the middle of the night (either breastmilk or formula, whatever you are doing). She's probably going through a growth spurt and needs more food/calories for a while

Even if you give her cereal before bed, it won't matter if she's honestly just hungry after so many hours later because of a growth spurt. Stick to what the DOCTOR says and just feed her breastmilk/formula when she wakes up.

As well as for me I had a very good eating, so I did start cereal early, so just add it into the formula and you are the only one to see if it really helps or not, just try it for the first few nights and see how your baby does with it.

I gave my 6 week old daughter a quarter of a teaspoon of baby cereal in her bottle of a night. She started sleeping through the night. Every week I gradually made the quantity larger, by 11 weeks she was eating it for her dinner. My mum told me to do this! Mums speak from experince, I reckon listen :)

they say to start cereal everywhere between 4-6 months. you ought to nevertheless provide her extra often than not milk. you're giving her solids extra often than not to get her used to the spoon and doubtless no longer for dietary fee at this element. i think of with the aid of solids, nevertheless, they advise cereal. then meals at 6 months. a minimum of that's what i did and became into advised with the aid of a few diverse nurses/docs. so i began out giving my boys cereal around 4 months.. merely 2 tablespoons an afternoon and then began the whole nutrition element around 6 months (additionally they propose giving vegetables first so that they do no longer reject them after bobbing up a flavor for culmination). in any case.. back to the question. they have a perplexing time eating from a spoon in the event that they're rather hungry.. i continuously provide my boys some bottle first.. around 3 oz. (while they're eating 6 oz..bottle) so that they at the instant are not super hungry and worried for the spoon.. then i feed them cereal and then extra bottle (I easily have twins so because it is why i save asserting them and that they and such). remember she does not comprehend precisely what she is doing yet, so whether maximum if it finally ends up on her blouse, you ought to nevertheless save offering it so she will determine it out and learn. additionally, examine the consistency.. each and every each and every now and then infants will reject it whether it is merely too thick or too runny.. i think of they propose runnier (like very very soupy rather much milky) for while they're beginning out, yet each and every infant is diverse!.

I think my family almost always breaks this rule. Mixing a little rice cereal in with formula will help to fill her up without causing any problems.
