Republicans have A LOT of issues, but Democrats who claim to be 'for the people' are corrupt too.

I am fed up with Bush and his Iraq war policy.

I will be a conservative 'til the day I die. But I don't have to like Bush.

Not according to most conservatives, kidding. This has been known for a long time, most people in a political position are corrupt.

You're correct up to a point. Certainly the Democrats aren't saints.

But it's a question of degree. Not all republicans--or Democrats--are corrupt. However, at the present time, the extent of corruption in theRepublican party is pervasive--far more so than in the Democratic party. At times in the past its been the reverse.

But there is also another factor to consider. At present, the GOP is still all but totally controlled by an extremist element--largely beholden to the extreme religious right--that has openly declared an agenda that includes the destruction of individual civil rights and liberties and the undermining of the Constitution.

And that is unacceptable. A corrupt politician is one thing--but at least he/she is still an American. Advocating what amounts to a religious fundamentalist dictatorship is quite another--and cannot be tolerated.

Yes. There are some good elected officials, but the entire political system is broke.

I do understand your frustration with President Bush, but I'd like to point out that most Conservatives knew they weren't voting for a true Conservative. I mean he pandered to the Republican base. He's a very religious man. And I do think most of us thought he would be a better president than Kerry or Gore, but he's more like his father, more of a blue blood Republican type.

In my lifetime, the only Conservative to be president was Ronald Reagan. Hang in there. We may elect another one soon!

You are quite correct and there's nothing that says you have to agree with Bush that's what makes you a human and I'm glad to see you can make up your own mind instead of believing everything your party puts before you. I'm an Independent and I've always made up my own mind. I lean toward the conservative side so I call myself a con.

I do believe in what we are doing in Iraq. We went there to get Saddam out and find and destroy his WMDs which we did find some and got rid of them and Saddam is out...out of this life so we have done a god job but now we are there to help train the Iraqi Army and help to protect the innocent civilians. Maybe that's just the Marine in me talking but I like helping people and with all of the insurgents going in and murdering people, I think it's best if we stay there until the Iraqi Army can handle it by themselves.

I agree...but the way the News Media portrays the corruption is horrid...they are all focusing on the legal firing of the US Attorneys, but so not hardly say a word about "Cold Cash" Jefferson...I think there should be term limits for Congress, that would stop a lot of the corruption..

Since the primary job of any elected official is to get re-elected, and getting re-elected takes money, once in office all they care about is who can pay for their next campaign. It's a vicious cycle, and it applies equally to either party. That's why I stopped registering with a party affiliation years ago. I still vote, hopeful every time, but I don't want to have my name associated with a den of thieves.

Sure it does. No one is saying it doesn't. It's a matter of what kind of political corruption you're comfortable with. It's an evil we apparently have to accept, because we keep electing mayors who charge inappropriate things to city credit cards and Presidents who want to declare themselves king.

There is corruption in both political parties but people just like to focus on the other party's scandals.

Congrads, you have got it, democrats are not holding their status of being uncorrupted anymore, leaving true democrats feeling ripped off and scammed, pushing them to the Republicans who never try to hide their corruption, they use to gain power. Its better to be aware then to be scammed, don't you think?

Agreed. There are bad apples in both barrels. But that does not mean all democrats or all republicans or all liberals or all conservatives are bad.
