Is your new husband legally responsibile for your PAST bills??? I am getting married soon and I do not want him to pay my past bills, if I get behind, can bill collectors legally go after him for payments?

No. He is not responsible for debts you brought into the marriage. He can assume the responsibility on;y if he chooses to do so.

I don't believe your new husband will be responsible for your past bills unless his name is attached to any of them. You might want to check the question out in the finance forum.

depends on if your state is a community property state and if your bills were listed in a divorce decree before you married him,

they can go after him once you get married but only if you inform them that you are married now.
