Go to http://cruical.com and run their scanner. It will tell you what memory is in your computer. It will then attempt to sell you overpriced memory for the PC. Don't buy the memory from them, but do use their memory detection feature.

Once you have the info, go elsewhere to look for the memory.

You can also go to http://belarc.com and download their free Advisor program. It will not only give you the memory information, but a three page report with all the other tech specs you would ever want on your PC. (And does not try to sell you anything).

Crucial, a brand of RAM, has a web site that offers a tool to scan your computer and tell you how much, of what type.

I've found it useful on computers when I have no idea and want to know quickly.
