How long you been married? You might seek a simple annulment. You can find out at your local courthouse, I believe, whether or not you need an attorney and if you can get this at low cost.

I'm about to back out of my wedding and have been thinking about divorce already, 8 days away from possibly making the biggest mistake of my life. From what Ive head, even if you have nothing, divorce is expensive, check around with different lawyers, it also may be less or more of a hassle depending on what state your in. I'm sorry you are getting divorced, good luck in the future.

Actually, you don't. You can get divorce paper off of the internet, or in any office supply place, fill out all the spaces, both of you sign, take it to your county court house, pay the filing fee. A judge will stamp it and papers will be sent to both of you. On it will be a case number as well as a date when each of you is regarded again as a legally single person. Be sure that you fill out ALL the spaces, even if it is nothing more than the null sign ( a zero with a slash thru it). Most filing fees are about $15. As well, be sure that you have agreed who gets what, if anything, of the stuff that you have accumulated.

depending on which state you live in. Florida has divorce kits that they sell for under $100.00 as long as there is no property or children you should have no problems, now if you both have racked up some hefty credit card bills together I would definitely retain a lawyer

You'll need either a lawyer or a mediator. If it's going to be a simple divorce, a mediator is the way to go. It's pretty cheap.
Good luck on your new life.

Not necessarily. If he also wants a divorce, then you can acutally do it online now. Just do a search for Do It yourself divorces. If he does not want one, than you may have to get a lawyer.

Yes you still need a lawyer - but the cost will be minimal and it will be quick. If it's been under a year - have it annulled.
