America is the melting pot for people who hated being taxed penniless in their home countries and fled to live here.

They get here and devote their heart to the democrat party where they welcome increased taxes to help those less fortunate while never truly finding freedom.

The less fortunate ones... Welfare cases, less educated people, jobless, diabolical criminals, prostitutes, drug users and dealers, union workers and educators all beg for legalizing whatever vice they prefer, then while continually voting for liberals attesting they can legalize the said vices - it never happens.

Why do blue-staters (liberals) never catch on to that?

Al Cracka: Yes, but it doesn't mean I like how this state eagerly accepts welfare cases who end up putting a huge burden on me and many others.
Having our population increase by attaining 20% of immigrants from three different countries and paying them to come here so I can provide for them - doesn't settle easy with me.

matt:
You made a few good points but government by any other name is corrupt no matter which party is in office.

As for a few others: Your forefathers may have come to this country for reasons other than being penniless, but in many instances people left their original homeland to get away from being financially raped.

jack: Thanks for the tip but may I remind you that while Clinton stripped our military to T-shirts and soggy socks, all our military equipment was NOT up to snuff as a result. There's your trillions at work trying to catch up on what Clinton did for 8 years.
I need education and you're hoping I grow old and wise...? Seeing how I'm probably older and wiser than you - I'll deter my break-down on you since you probably aren't fully equipped.

"America is the melting pot for people who hated being taxed penniless in their home countries and fled to live here."

That may be the case for some, but violence, religious persecution, war, unemployment, disease, etc.. are also pretty big motivators.

"They get here and devote their heart to the democrat party where they welcome increased taxes to help those less fortunate while never truly finding freedom."

Not all do. Cubans go Republican because of they have a shared hatred of Castro. But after waging endless wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, can you really blame Muslims for not liking Republicans? With all their talk about building a wall, can you really blame Mexicans for not voting Republican?

I don't follow the rest of your questions though. You are equating people on welfare to diabolical criminals?? Educators beg for legalizing vices??

In a cynical way, it comes down to this: Liberals believe that the government is better suited to meet the needs of the people, while Conservatives feel the private sector/market will do it better. So do you trust corrupt corporations or incompetant governments? Personally, I find more hope in fixing a system of morons than a system of deliberate crooks.

The people who founded this country moved to this country to escape religious persecution (Europe had state religions) and for economic opportunity. I never read anything about them leaving because of taxes.

They revolted against the British because of "taxation without representation."

READ THIS THOMAS JEFFERSON QUOTE ON PROGRESSIVE TAXES

"The property of this country is absolutely concentred in a very few hands, having revenues of from half a million of guineas a year downwards... I am conscious that an equal division of property is impracticable. But the consequences of this enormous inequality producing so much misery to the bulk of mankind, legislators cannot invent too many devices for subdividing property, only taking care to let their subdivisions go hand in hand with the natural affections of the human mind. Another means of silently lessening the inequality of property is to exempt all from taxation below a certain point, and to tax the higher portions of property in geometrical progression as they rise. Whenever there is in any country, uncultivated lands and unemployed poor, it is clear that the laws of property have been so far extended as to violate natural right. The earth is given as a common stock for man to labor and live on."

Get a clue and have some more cool aid. In the first place your reason we left England is wrong. Look it up. That was part but not the only reason.
In the second place we Democrats have a heart, unlike Republicans who have none. Republicans think it's fine that 46 million Americans have no basic Health Insurance and half are women and children. According to them. I think it's wrong. I think we have a moral obligation to take care of our women and children. It is not GODLY to ignore them and let 18,000 per year die. It's going to change. I will not live to see that change but some of our younger generation are not stupid. They see the $9 trillion debt ran up by Bush and Republicans in Congress as a lifetime of higher taxes.
When you get older and wiser you might catch on to that fact.
Now this is your homework for today. Look up total spending on Defense and find out what total spending on all social programs is. Hint peanuts. BTW, I would like to see no vices legalized. Now tell me. Why did Bush Commute Scooters jail time for his conviction by a court?

People don't come here because they were taxed penniless in their home country. they come here for opportunity. The cost of living in a country with all the advantages America has is you have to pay taxes. Your name says you are in Minnesota...you are a blue stater.

Taxation is the single one issue that has the public vote
republican..as soon as Bush Sr caved and the "No New Taxes"..was broadcast..he insured Clinton's possible
win..and brought Perot..in as the killer because of disdain
for taxation...

Hillary and her taxation threat will not win...

Why do conservatives believe in legislating morality, like opposing gay marriage and flag burning, when they supposedly don't believe in expanding government? There are always contradictions when one blindly follows the party line.

"The less fortunate ones... Welfare cases, less educated people, jobless," ?

I thought their only vices were food, clothing, and shelter.
