I am currently having 2 x 512 DDR2 SDRAM. The thing is I'm seeking cheaper alternatives cos the ones sold by HP/Compaq are damn expensive. I wanna upgrade to 2 x 1G RAM. My Compaq model is V3113TU. Apparently I have searched online and I didn't get the answer.

Go to HP/Compaq and find the memory you want to pruchase. Get the part number.
Then go to http://kingston.com and enter the part number. It will list any compatible memory that they sell. Usually it will be 25%-50% cheaper. Get those part numbers also.
Then do a Google search on both the HP/Compaq number and any Kingston numbers. You may be able to find the same memory at another site for less.
Finally, before ordering, check the return/refund policies at the site you select to be sure you can exchange it should there be an issue with the memory.

Are you sure the model is V3113TU? Kingston Technology offers memory that is compatible with HP/Compaq laptops, but they did not list a model 3113. However, they do have a V3131TU.
Perhaps you can open up your laptop and locate the memory chips. These are usually found beneath a panel underneath the laptop that is accessible using a screwdriver to remove one screw. (At least that was how my old IBM Thinkpad and Sony VAIO were configured)
Locate the part number (might be P/N) on the chip circuit board or on the chip itself. If they are original Compaq memory boards, the part number should be something like "432969-001" or alternatively "EM993ET".
I bought Kingston memory for my Dell desktop PC because Dell's prices for memory were ridiculous, as well as charging me a high fee for shipping. Been working for a year or two now with both the Dell original and Kingston memory installed with no issues.

I had the comparable situation with my Compaq Presario. I in actuality had to word rigidity to the ability twine in a undeniable way for it to paintings. at last sooner or later not something worked. i offered a clean laptop and a 2.5in force converter that allowed me to take my old laptop force and connect it via ability of USB to the hot laptop. except the pc is decrease than guarantee or you spent hundreds of funds on it (ie $1500+) i does not difficulty with attempting to repair it. a clean laptop will value a splash extra, yet you will have the skill to get extra effective equipment.

Well there are no different makes of RAM, they all manufacture the same thing but they have different platforms. According to your model i think it will be the SD RAM. Try removing the Ram and taking it to your PC hardware store.

Have you tried Kingston for your memory modules? Try a seach for the memory on thier web site.
I doubt if you will find any cheaper, they are propriatary and will only fit the Pressario.
Good luck....
