Toronto - so the needle. It has a glass floor and messes w/ your head. A wonderful, clean city. You'll love it.
Niagra Falls - stay on the Canadian side. US side is dirty. Do visit the park on the US side though, it's lovely.
NYC - high energy place. Lots of culture. Too much to do to narrow it down to one day. I really liked Ellis Island. Don't eat off of main thoroughfares, it's too expensive. Look for alleyways that are restaurant alleys. It'll save you a fortune.
Atlantic City - have never been, sorry.
Philadelphia - has no real worth away from the tourist destinations. Which is fine, why go to Philly if not for the history. Those areas are beautiful. The rest is dirty, rundown, high crime.
Washington, DC - again a place where there is too much to do for one day. BUT, if you are there for one day, and in the summer, the only thing to do is the museums. Especially in August, DC is so polluted, hazy, hot and humid that you will feel like you can't breathe. But the Smithsonian is wonderful - AND FREE!!! In the evening walk the mall and see the monuments lit up at night, that's beautiful.

I can tell you about some of them. Niagara Falls is cool. Take the boat trip. Its a hoot and doesn't take too long and cools you off on a warm day. There is also a cool pre-revolutionary fort (Fort Niagara) that you can go through not too many miles from there.
New York City is the greatest place in the world, but if you are driving, leave nothing in your car and better yet, leave your car in a secure garage and take city transpo. But there is so much to see !!! Get theater tickets well ahead for sure and try and hit the Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty and maybe some shopping. A day isn't NEARLY long enough because there are also some fabulous museums and art galleries, not to mention Central Park, St. Patrick's Cathedral, Rockefellar Center, Chinatown, Little Italy, a gillion wonderful restaurants and night clubs, the Yankees and Mets and Knicks and Giants and Jets...
Never been to Toronto, Atlantic City or Philly, but lived in DC for 7 years. Tons of free stuff to do including all the Smithsonian musuems and galleries, all the monuments and memorials (Lincoln is my favorite, but don't miss the Vietnam and Korean war memorials either - incredibly moving). Transportation is really easy on the Metro. Its fast, incredibly easy and not too expensive. (Traffic is horrendous so don't waste your time trying to drive places.) For a hoot, there is a place near Gallery Place exit (up near the Capitol Building) called the International Spy Museum. It's really great and well worth the admission even though it sounds like it wouldn't be. Again a day wouldn't begin to cover it because there is a wonderful zoo, the Air and Space Musuem annex just outside DC that has every kind of aircraft including a retired space shuttle, Arlington Cemetery and the Iwo Jima Memorial, Mount Vernon, Olde Towne, Alexandria, Georgetown for high priced shopping and great eating...
Have a wonderful time! You sure won't be bored!

Never been to Toronto - no comment
Niagara Falls - go to the Canadian side. I agree take the Lady of the Mist boat ride, outside of that just check out the town. One night in Niagara is enough.
New York, NY - way to much to see and do in NY than a single day can handle. Staying in Manhattan will be very expensive. I was just there this week, the best deal I found was the Hilton @ $195/night. Best prices for motels in NYC are on the weekends (Fri/Sat) when the business travelers aren't there. Plan on $50/night to park your car. Suggest you park it your motel and walk or take the subway. Depending on what you want to see - Ellis Island/Statue of Liberty(take the boat from Battery Park), Times Square (best at night), take in a show on Broadway. Get a deli sandwich at Carnegie Deli (~7th Ave and 54th St), cheesecake at Carnegie Deli or Jrs (in Grand Central Station). If I only had one day, I'd probably take the double decker bus tour and go to a show on Broadway and eat in one of the great restaurants. Had dinner a Nobu57 last Saturday - it was fantastic - but expensive.
Atlantic City - over rated, very expensive to go there on the weekend (all of NYC/Philly is in AC on the weekend). I considered AC last weekend vs Manhattan, but a room in AC was 2x the price of NYC. AC, by and large is really seedy. You only want to stay in a place like Trump or Caesar's, Harrah's etc.. if you stay in a budget place away from the casinos - watch out. I'd avoid Atlantic City and go to Cape May.
Philly, limited experience.
Washington DC - only thing to do is go to the monuments and Smithsonian. Depending on how into museums you are you can spend an entire day in a single building at the Smithsonian. I found the Mint to be an interesting tour.

I just went to Philly & my complaint about it is the lack of street signs (it was very frustrating....) & they are also doing alot of construction around the 30th Street Station area. Traffic looks horrific during weekdays, I'd advise parking on the outskirts of Philadelphia & taking a bus/shuttle (I think they have one called Splash) you pay $5 for an all day pass & they have I think 20 stops on it which include Reading Terminal Market, Penn's Landing, Independence Hall, the area by Philadelphia Museum of Art /Rocky Steps, etc. It is probably easier to park yourself somewhere (which isn't cheap either) and take the shuttle around town. If you plan on visiting Independence Hall get there early to reserve yourself tickets (or you can do online) because they "sell out" (even though its free) very quickly. Reading Terminal Market is a great place to explore, lots of little shops and tons of places to eat inside - I had alot of fun & its free....

in Philly:
- avoid North and West Philly, unless you are wearing a kevlar vest.
- go to the Italian Market in South Philly,
- catch a Phillies game if they are in town.
- visit South Street between Front Street and 10th.
- go to the outside bars on Delaware Ave.
- Main Street, Manyunk (about 15 minutes outside of Center City Philly) is pretty yuppy now adays.

hi i think of you should take the Sandeman strolling excursion. Its unfastened you will in basic terms ought to tip them on the tip of the excursion. They cover, approximately 50% of the failings you have on the checklist and for something take the tube. It takes you to maximum places. verify you get an Oyster card to keep on the delivery.
