*Did you know?*
*One fourth of the Iraq war budget alone could fund healthcare for every
uninsured person in this country.*
Think what the trillions of dollars wasted on war,
occupation and destruction could do for the people:
. Provide free medicine for all of our seniors and chronically ill.
. Change the dismal statistics of infant mortality in major cities
like Detroit, Baltimore and Washington D.C. where the mortality rates
for African American and poor children rival impoverished countries abroad;
. Stop the epidemic of hospital closings;
. It could provide healthcare and treatment for the physical and
psychological trauma that the survivors of Katrina and Rita are still
suffering from;
. Make healthcare for low wage workers and immigrant families a priority.
While the war is bleeding us at home it is miniscule in comparison to
the bloodshed, misery and pain that is being inflicted on the Iraqi
people. The Lancet medical journal documented that 655,000 Iraqi
civilians have been killed during the war (Oct, 2006). The health of
the Iraqi people and the entire region has been destroyed. Solidarity
demands that we act now to stop the war, end the occupation and bring
the troops home now!
noting that food is a health problem
and 20,000 troops have been discharged [with extra debt because they have been diagnosed as having prior mental problems] so them being shell shocked , wounded in iraq and in trauma dosnt warent any pension for being injured , so there is 20,000 more poor
what a great civil war?

Would you rather suffer the poverty of many other countries in the world??? Yes this is the richest, most powerful country on earth, and mind you, it took mega tears and sweat to get there. This country provides for all within its borders and without its borders. Please, don't try to tell me we don't provide for our poor and needy. Anyone (key word), anyone can live the life they want in this country, if they will just make the effort. You sound like John Edwards, trying to belittle the country by flushing out the poor and downtrodden. Even he is having problems finding that group. Thank God, that you live in this great and prosperous country.

Too often when we think of "poverty" we think of those old Sally Struthers commercials showing poor villages with people living in grass huts and open sewers running down the street, with hungry children standing around. THAT IS POVERTY. "Poverty" in the USA is a moving goal post. What does it mean to be poor in America today anyway? Often it means living in or owning a two or three bedroom home, complete with heat, electricity and clean water. Often AC. Usually a couple of TVs, cable or satellite, furniture, various electronic gadgets, one or two cars, plenty of food on the table, free education for the kids, and often gov't assisted health care. I've linked to a report on what poverty in America is, at least as of 2004.

Having actually been in poverty and around it, I would say that the majority of those in poverty are there because they are lazy or they made a lot of really poor choices in life. What makes America great is that if you choose to lift yourself out of poverty, you have the means to do so.
Quit blaming Bush or Cheany or Hitler or whoever for your problems and go out and make something of your life. Now if you live in Iraq and want to blame them for your problems, you might have an agruement.

Ever wonder how they were living in misery at loss with our creator's universal gifts of life that created the missing link inside them?
Ever wonder how we must trace the faults and break through that " One moment in time" to guide them home to our creator in worshiping God.
