It makes me wonder what we've accomplished in Iraq? Six years for nothing.

Let me start by saying that if you do not believe the media has a liberal bias, then you probably do not read enough.
For feeling safe. There are those among us, myself included, who believed that this WOULD happen. We also beleive it will continue to happen UNTIL the War on Terror is taken seriously by the VAST majority of Americans and the Western world in general.
Al Qaeda is NOT the only source of terrorism. Piracy is also increasing dramatically. What they won't say about piracy is that Muslim nations play host to an overly large percentage of the pirates.
The War on Terror is a struggle agaisnt militant Islam. They seem to understand nothing but brute force. They take talk and attempts at negotiations as signs of weakness and then seek to exploit that weakness.
My best reference would be WWII. The relations between Japan and the USA. Neither of us understood the opther very well. Taht misunderstanding led to the war between Japan and the USA. If we had a better understanding of each other at the time war might have been avoided.
In our current case with Militant Islam, we now have the same thing. We continue to look at them and believe they think the same wayt about issues that we do. However cultural differances make this untrue. What we see as simple they see complex. What they see simple, we see complex. Either we accept the truth of this and understand that they will ONLAY respond to strength, this situation will continue to deteriorate.
Afterall, from thier POV, this is what they have.
1. The islamic world is focussed on Afghanistan and Iran. Militant Islam can use this focus to re-create the Caliphate. (evidenced through thier growing number of ultimatums to other islamic states like Iran, Syria, Jordan, Saudi Arabia...)
2. Western political will is crumbling. When the will fails, Islam will be victorious!!!
3. With a Caliphate in Iraq and Afghanistan, expansion of the Caliphate can continue to engulf the ENTIRE world. (evidenced through the fact that Imams are laying claim to Britain, the Netherlands, France, and many other nations or parts of nations.)
This situation is MUCH more serious than most in the media are willing to tell us. Why?
1. This is not PC
2. This is somewhat complicated and hard to delineate
3. The scope is so large that the one to tell it can sound like they are exagerating even when they in truth are playing it down.
Hope you find this informational.

2 yrs ago in west Texas a guy was pulled over buy a small town sheriff . His ID was fake . The sheriff took him in to finger print and ID him . The guy turned out to be #7 on the FBI most watched list for terrorist and he had not been seen in 2 yrs . It took 3 days for the sheriff to get some one from the FBI to believe that he had caught the guy .
This man had been living here a year and had maps for the entire area he was that included all movement of wildlife in the area . Since he lived 10 miles from Kill gore he also had list of troop movements to and from the base . He had a complete profile on all government officials in the city he was in . This include who ate where for breakfast lunch and dinner and on what day . He had files on where the mayors wife had her hair done and when and what his kids liked and who there friends where .
It was just by luck he was pulled over . He had been speeding . The sheriff was going to give a news conference to a Houston radio station . It never happened . I have tried several times to ask the DJ's about it . They won't talk about it now . There was never any report in the papers or on the news that anything happened . So much for free speech . So much for our right to know.

I don't get your point. Since 9/11 I have not felt safe because we are not safe. If you have been feeling that the terrorists will no longer come here an attack us you are not keeping up.
We are way overdue for another terrorist attack, most likely because of the Iraq situation. The more resources terrorist organizations sent there, the less they have to send elsewhere.
The disruptive effects of this are displayed in the arrest of the terrorists who were planning to attack Fort Dix in New Jersey. With so much of the terrorists resources tied up these guys were not able to rely on outside funds. So they had to get jobs. Jobs expose them to other people and increase the chances of discovery. It also severely restricted their ability to purchase the weaponry they required.
This is an important benefit of the Iraq war. It is much more difficult for imbedded cells to function. Every move they make to earn money or even to rent a place to live exposes them a little more to the chance of discovery. Any attempt to purchase explosives, chemicals or firearms is an opportunity to be exposed.
Do I feel safe, no only a fool would feel safe when there are people willing to kill themselves in order to kill Americans. I keep my eyes and ears open. I have an emergency plan for my family and emergency supplies on hand. I feel prepaired to deal with any eventuality.
I will probably never feel as safe as I did on Sept.10th 2001 after watching from the water of the Hudson as the WTC towers collapsed on Sept 11th 2001. I am far more vigiliant now. You should be, too.

I would hope no one would feel completely secure since 9-11. The terrorists proved their point - that they can strike anywhere, anytime.
We can never let our guard down and should always be observant of strange people, unusual actions, etc. and report them to the authorities.
In the meantime, the White House is off in Iraq, fighting an illegal war that costing us BILLIONS of dollars a month. That's billions that could be going into homeland security and domestic programs.

Yes, I feel safe. The chances of being killed in a terrorist attack are about as good as me winning the lottery. People need to get over there irrational fear of terrorism and live their lives.

So that wasn't a dog prowling around in my back yard last night. I guess the smell of the ribs I was smoking must have driven them off. Eat pork, defeat the terrorists.
