This country is probably one of the most segregated in the world. Not necessarily racial (although that does it exist), but within economic classes. The people who pass the insurance bills are the ones who don't have to worry about health insurance because they are insured through the tax payers (yes, the very ones who don't have insurance pay for the officials to have top notch insurance). These officials don't care about the poor or middle class because these aren't the people who donate money to their campaigns. Another issue that should be addressed is the non-existence of dental insurance. Even if you're on Medicare...they don't pay for it. Gum disease, etc. can turn into other more serious problems and people can even die from diseases that dental visits could of prevented.

I was one of the 40 million until just this past month. Then I decided I would do the responsible thing and BUY, yes buy health insurance. Health insurance is not a right. It is something that must be paid for by someone and I for one do not want the government doing that. I also agree with the guy who thinks Americans need to stop being fat, lazy, gluttonous slobs. Get off your ***, go to work and then you'll be able to afford health insurance. Most of those 40 million probably don't have jobs and contribute very little to society so I have no real problem letting them die off. Thanks and have a nice day.

Find a job that offers Health coverage! Saying that you are a working man and then crying since 7 Eleven doesnt offer health coverage is retarded. Find a real job. Not a job that was meant for a part time student or someone making extra cash. Working at the mini mart is not a career, nor should other jobs like that be providing health care. You can find many simple jobs such as Wal-Mart, or any other large chain companies that all have coverage.

Fortunately I have health insurance included in my retirement package. My retirement system pays almost $500 a month for this benefit. ( because of my age and gender (female)). If I had to pay for coverage out-of-pocket, I would never be able to meet the premium and therefore; be without coverage.
No one should worry about health coverage, and a fair and equitable solution for the 40 + Million Americans without it should be amoung the top priorities of our polititians. We have been promised health care for all, but we still don't have it.
We, the people of this country, should not rest until all of us have our medical needs taken care of.

I have insurance because I am a student and it is required to be in school. I do not have dental insurance which I am pissed about. Everyone should have dental as well as medical.
Thank God I had insurance a few years ago when I blew my knee out. If I did not have insurance I would have had to pay about $30,000 for the surgery and recovery. Either that or go without and develop arthritis.
America is just as corrupt as other countries. We just play it off better thats all.

*Did you know?*
*One fourth of the Iraq war budget alone could fund healthcare for every
uninsured person in this country.*
Think what the trillions of dollars wasted on war,
occupation and destruction could do for the people:
. Provide free medicine for all of our seniors and chronically ill.
. Change the dismal statistics of infant mortality in major cities
like Detroit, Baltimore and Washington D.C. where the mortality rates
for African American and poor children rival impoverished countries abroad;
. Stop the epidemic of hospital closings;
. It could provide healthcare and treatment for the physical and
psychological trauma that the survivors of Katrina and Rita are still
suffering from;
. Make healthcare for low wage workers and immigrant families a priority.
While the war is bleeding us at home it is miniscule in comparison to
the bloodshed, misery and pain that is being inflicted on the Iraqi
people. The Lancet medical journal documented that 655,000 Iraqi
civilians have been killed during the war (Oct, 2006). The health of
the Iraqi people and the entire region has been destroyed. Solidarity
demands that we act now to stop the war, end the occupation and bring
the troops home now!

5 % of 360Million is = 18,000,00 ok, so these are the people whom we know are unemployed that means almost half of the 40million people are unemployed.
Then there are about 25million illegals in this country so that makes 43million.
Are you un-insured? I was un-insured for 2 years myself and know how hard it is with two young children.
But it is not systems fault. I have seen the Healthcare system in Canada and UK. they are not any better.

I just applied for health insurance in my state and in the thing you have to sign it states: "... if 55 or older when I die Mass health will be able to collect from my estate".
What do you think of that. I was tempted NOT to apply and take the penalty of not having insurance and NOT being able to take that $200.00 (approx) deduction on my income taxes.
mr reality up there needs a reality check- do you think there are jobs just floating around out there waiting for us to snag. ?

With them all living in misery out there.
What are you waiting for?
Why not reach out and extend them a helping hands in solving the mess and misery of liuving human kind in own backyards. for the good of mankind.
Instead of throwing pots and pans in bashing up one another
when everyone is living in misery out there.
Try and do something about it with " He's ain't heavy he's my brother" since "We are family"
