Destiny and Fate are often put into the same category. When in fact, they are much different then people think they are. For example: Bob wants to be an artist like his dad, to Bob that may be his destiny, then fate takes over and he becomes a football star. Think of it like this: destiny is a train traveling on the rail road of life and fate is the lever that changes the tracks causing the train to go to a different location rather then the one the train had intended. Destiny is what you want your life to be like, fate is what your life will be like. You decide the type of fate you have. Make the right decisions, you will have a good fate, be weary in your school work and waste your life away, it will surely be a horrible fate for you.

As per English Dictionary Fate means........An event (or a course of events) that will inevitably happen in the future. Destiny means...An event (or a course of events) that will inevitably happen in the future. So these are two different words having same meanings. So far as the concept of fate or destiny is concerned it is illogical and thus wrong. How can we be punished here or in the life hereafter for any of our wrong doings if it has already been decided by God how the events will happen? Why should I be hanged for the murder of a human when it is already decided that I will murder him and I can't change God's will. Why should I exert if it has been decided that I shall get this and shall not get that? In fact we are sent here with the capabilities and freedom of choice to do good as well as bad. We are told what is right and wrong. We are also told what God wants from us. Thus it a test we are sent here to take. The test is whether we use our capabilities according to or against the will of God. As every test is followed by a result so we shall be rewarded for our doings. This is what we are created for.

I believe everything happens for a reason, destiny, fate, or karma what every it is. My life has had it's ups and downs and I remember a story my Grandmother told me as a child, each of our life's are planed out before we are born, and the moment our body hits the birth canal the angel of forgetfulness takes away all your memories of what is ahead. This magical force stays with you though out your life, even though you life is planned out it is up to you to take the right path, which most of us don't which leads to the troubles in our life. Which is destiny, fate, and karma. I included a website that it is called the Angel's slap, not quite the same as forgetfulness but close. You will get the idea.

Destiny is subject to change because it depends on your current potential. When they say you are destined to become a pilot, it means you have the potential to become a pilot. But if you do not choose to become a pilot, then your destiny is subject to change. Destiny is the term someone uses when he thinks he is in control of his life. This is a responsible person's word.
Fate happened already. It's done. It's past. You can't change it anymore. Fate is the term people use when they want to blame something else for what happened to their lives. Fate is an irresponsible person's word.
N'est-ce pas?

Destiny is the events that will happen to a person, regarded as predetermined by fate.
And fate is just a factor that will control the destiny.

Destiny is what you're meant to do. Like if your family runs a hotel chain for generations, it's your destiny to be a part of the family business. Fate is something that no matter what you do it won't change. Everyone is going to die, that is our fate. Nothing can change it.

Destiny is the fate to which a person or thing is destined. Fate is a force viewed as unalterable in determining events in advance. Some use the terms interchangeably, as it means the same thing.

Destiny is what you get. The reason for that is fate. For eg, u may like to do medicine. But you get admission only for engineering. Engineering is your destiny and the reason u got engineering is your fate.

destiny is your future... your destination. it can be altered by the choices and plans that you make. your fate however, is something that life/God/whatever you believe in has pre-planned for you, and they have all control over what id happening. you can make decisions, but the "higher power" know what they will be. so fate is set. your destiny can be changed
