I'm from the Philippines. Life here usually depends on your environment or financial status. If you're filthy rich, you get the good things, as well as an English upbringing, which kinda sucks because you keep using English even in daily life and other kids/people will look at you differently because of it. "Oh look, he doesn't speak Tagalog. Is he even Filipino?" Something like that, translated to the Filipino language of Tagalog.

If you're middle class, then good for you. You get the good things, and you get a glimpse of the hard life every now and then. It's easier to adjust to diff situations.

If you're poor... well, I don't know much about that. It's hard here if you're poor. I see a lot of squatters in Manila trying to get a good life 'cause they hear that it's easier to get money in the city. But POOF, woops, rumor's wrong. Go back home, people. But hey, they won't go home, so they squat, request the gov't to give them houses, then they sell 'em and squat again. Very very very nice of them, eh?

Much also depends on how you speak. The Philippines is multi-lingual, a result of many occupations and dialects. You speak good English, good. You speak bad English, you get laughed at by the good speakers. You speak good Filipino, wow. You speak Taglish (Tagalog/Filipino and English combined), well... if it's good/mostly Filipino, or if you're only using English for the non-translatable words, then good. Smart talking. If you're using English mainly, then you add a few Tagalog words, then, personally, I will laugh at you and think lowly of you.

Well, it's mostly based on the message itself, so good message and bad language brings a healthy mix of reactions from different people.

Ahh.... It's pretty hard to get books here when they're not mainstream. If you really can't find it, you have to order it and have it shipped in. It costs so much especially when you're a student.

Ask me if you want more info on Philippine daily life. :)

I live in a smaller city near one of the bigger ones in Florida, and like the scoobydoobydoo person said, it has been raining everyday, but before it rains in the afternoon it is 100 degrees and soooo hot. The heat is only nice when I am laying out by the pool or at the beach. Since I live in a beach town, most people here are surfers, but I have not joined that fad for some reason, even though a lot of my friends surf. My city is small, and besides going to the beach or movies, there is nothing else to do here so I am constantly having to drive at least twenty minutes to go hang out with friends somewhere fun.
So, what it is like to live in new jersey?

San Francisco Bay Area
It's about 60 degrees and supposed to get up to 80 today.
I love it here, anything you want to do, it's within a reasonable distance! Beaches, mountains, forests, or deserts! You can't beat it!
