ran great for 6 wks , same problem is back. sometimes it starts runs great sometime it wont even start? its getting fuel and spark. Computer reads a code for egr valve (mechanic says the valve is good just plugged its clean right now and ive even tried to start it with the valve off still wont start?

chances are you have a bad fuel pump. you can be getting plenty of fuel but if the pressure is not at least 60 psi, it will not run. this is a very common problem. the fuel injectors are mechanical poppet injectors that open by pressure, at least 60 psi. check your fuel pressure with a gauge, it should be about 65psi with the key on and engine off. the egr valve is probably just bad, I have seen many egr failures on Chevy trucks but it will not cause your no-start/run situation.

EGR=Exhaust Gas Recirculation
If you remove the EGR valve and try to start the truck, it won't work.
Replace the EGR valve, and use a good quality fuel system-upper cylinder cleaner in your gas tank. (two fill ups.)
You probably have been using crappy gas.

My experience, is you can clean the egr valve all you want and it will work for a while, but unless you replace it, there will be never ending problems.
This happened on my 95 Blazer.

OK if you have spark is it a real bright blue almost white spark *good* or an orange spark *bad* could possibley be your distrib. module. or pick up now if it has coil packs check each one to see if it has spark... i will follow thru with you.also you may e-mail me at racinmech10@yahoo.com also im.
