I don't smoke and I don't go to bars. But I am against smoking bans and I believe it is the responsibility of business owners to fight laws hurting their business.

It hurts businesses where the ban is in effect, while they have neighbors that the ban isn't. Like in Ohio there is a ban, but not Kentucky, so the bars in Kentucky are doing a great business while the ones in Ohio are closing down. I don't smoke and I do go to bars, and I hate the law. Part of being in a free market is that if there was a need for non smoking bars, there would be some.

They did in my city while a total ban was in effect. Most of the bars who were forced to go non-smoking lost up to 40% in revenue. Some cut their hours and laid off employees. Now the ban has lifted for bars and things are getting better for the business. I agree, it should be the owners decision in the case of bars and private clubs.

I have a lot of pubs around me and to be honest there isn't anyone stood outside smoking. I am off out tomorrow night so I will see how much effect the ban has had on the pub trade.

Yes it is killing business. I am a smoker and even if people voted it this way I think it is crap. They don't care how many people kill each other leaving the bar in cars but be sure not to breath my smoke!
