If the war in Afghanistan is factored in, the financial burden of our "war on terror" amounts to about $600 billion so far - with about $10 billion per month spent on Iraq's civil war. And yet, illegal aliens total >20 million in the U.S., with more arriving each day. Given the law of averages, and Al Qaeda's interest in bringing their war to the U.S. (see http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070713/ap_on_go_pr_wh/us_terror_threat;_ylt=AksXOgw6TMjIfh5HGuv0D.bMWM0F), are we really investing our children's money correctly?

Spock: please include attribution to back up your claims that "a significant" number of Americans want open borders. I think your observation is baseless.

You would think it would have been our top priority after nine-eleven. This administration is pissing our tax dollars away with asinine decisions. How do we explain a global war on terror when anyone can walk across our borders? It tells me we are being fed a sham but stupidity is always underestimated in this country.

You are 100% correct, and i agree. It is truly sad when big fat corporations like oil companies, are taking huge profit because of conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan, at the same time lots of good folks are losing their homes, shelter for their children. Including many who served in Iraq. And about the borders i live in southern CA. and very familiar with these border crossing. The only measure taken is number of troops walk trough lines of cars waiting to cross, and check for any suspicious activity. But it is still a cinch to cross.

Best Regards.

It is bordering on a criminal act on the part of our government to ignore the borders like they have. It makes absolutely no sense to wage a war on terror without any thought to defense of our soil.

a significant portion of the American public wants the borders to be open and free for all comers. Thus, border control is stalled and the stall looks permanent.

you'd do better to pick arguments that have sibstance.
