Caspar, you are absolutely right, I agree with every word you say. I have a heart, but I am outraged at the stupidy of their actions on the evening Madeleine disappeared, and as it later turns out, their actions of every other night on that holiday.
Babies and children are vulnerable, and they need their parents to be there for them at all times, not to banish them to creches and abandon them in hotel rooms so that the parents can go out on the razzle.
It still shocks me to the core, that in this day and age, two so called educated people could act so stupid and selfishly
edit**** can i just clarify then, that everyone who has given me a thumbs down, obviously thinks that babies and children are NOT vulnerable, and its PERFECTLY ok for their Mummies and Daddies to go out on the lash whilst leaving them unattended in an unlocked hotel room in a foreign country?

At the risk of getting yet ANOTHER violation, I have to agree. I have no interest in developing convoluted conspiracy theories about the McCanns, I have always posted my opinion which is: They should not have left their kids alone, as Doctors, (who, during training must have worked in A&E, and dealt with children who have had accidents in the home), they should have known better.
There is, however, a contradiction here: The excuse for not using the babysitting service is that "they did not trust strangers to care for their child". Fair enough I suppose, but how can leaving your children with NO supervision be better than leaving them with someone you don't know? I read that the babysitters are the staff from the Kids Club that all 3 children had been attending, so they would not have been strangers anyway. I'm sorry, but the McCanns failed in their duties as parents. Their priority should have been the safety and welfare of their children. Also, if the group that was holidaying with them was so large, why did they not take it in turns to act as a communal babysitter each night? I would have rather had the hassle of moving my kids into one apartment for the night, so that one adult could supervise, then risk leaving them unattended.

define neglect then Casper If it would help me understand., I mean we should really get some clarity on this. To have neglected their children, they would have left them knowing there is a significant risk to their safety and well being on purpose. 3 sleeping children being checked regularly is not desirable, but neither is it unreasonable if the parents weighed up the eventualities. Therefore it would not be neglect, if they were awake then it would be. The risk they took was them staying asleep. Abduction of their daughter is unlikely to have entered their head. I would like to be proved wrong here, but think no court would prosecute them, let alone throw them in jail as some real spiteful folk have suggested. Folk are right, there is only one argument either side here, neglect or not and for me it was not.....If I had a few more facts, I may have a different opinion, but I give the McCanns the benefit of the doubt and have all along.

No,I don't hate CSK.I actually think they are a pretty balanced team.I supported the Delhi Daredevils in the early seasons of the IPL but when Gambhir went to the Kolkata Knight Riders,I started supporting them. But the only teams I root for at present is KKR and Rajasthan Royals.I support RR only because of Rahul Dravid and have utmost respect for that man.Even after so much controversy,I do not hate CSK,I like them because they are led by the Indian Captain MS. Dhoni himself. So,I find no reason to hate them. However there is one team I dislike with passion and it is RCB,I mean I do not like that side.It does not matter who they face I am always against them.

I understand perfectly well what neglect is and I do not believe that the McCanns are guilty of it. That does NOT mean that I condone them leaving the children alone in the apartment and I'm sick and fed up of being told that I do simply because I have always refused to join in with the witch-hunt.
I am also sick and tired of hearing people rant about how dreadful the McCanns are and how they are TOTALLY to blame for this and all the time I am hearing next to nothing about the person or persons who really made this happen - the ABDUCTOR(S).
Most of the slagging off that has been done HAS been heartless. Have you read it? We have had- just to name a very few - people accusing them of killing Madeleine, inviting suggestions for what one might do if Gerry McCann was hanging off a cliff by a rope and an unspeakable suggestion about Kate McCann. Where is the heart there? Where is the concern for Madeleine?
You don't know what they have admitted to themselves or to those to whom they must account for their actions - which is NOT you or me or anyone else here.

The Mccann fans will never admit that leaving the children alone was wrong. They also ignore any evidence emerging from Portugal. How many times did the Mccann's change their story about May 3rd? There were so many discrepancies between the Mccann's and their friends about that night, that they all agreed to enter a pact of silence. The Mcann supporters consistently refuse to discuss any of this, including the fact that 22 people contaminated the DNA evidence in the child's room - at Gerry's behest.
Or the fact that it was the complex manager who called the Police, not the parents.
No all we get is, poor parents suffering enough, or, just one mistake. Yeah one mistake that they made every night. including one occasion when the kids were left from 7pm until midnight.

I need glasses , two daves!!.
I have just said it was wrong to leave them as they were so young, but what's done is done.
We are all a great bunch of buddies on here really as dave s said, we could all have a drink, see each other face to face!
Probably we would be more civil as well.
Possible that they thought it was absolutely safe to leave them, I don't know. Still think it was someone known by the McCanns.

I believe the parents were very negligent in leaving their 3 children under 4 alone. Yes, of course we all know we can't watch our children 24 hours a day. However, if they didn't trust the resorts babysitters why not have dinner in the apartment. ( funny now how they trust them as the twins are taken care of by the staff everyday).
However they is a big difference between your child asleep upstairs and the parent downstairs and what the McCann's did. They couldn't of even heard if Madeleine or the twins shouted let alone of acted quickly if one of the children had started chocking or a fire had started.
In my eyes it's neglect and so is leaving a very small child or baby in a car whilst you pop in the shops. Too many parents leave their children in unsafe positions then when something dreadful happens they wonder why.

McCann fan club - Love the McCanns?????????
Thats way over the top.......
It has been agreed by the majority on here for at least two months, that the McCanns neglected their parental duties by leaving their children.
In my opinion I do not think the way the McCanns have carried themselves is appalling, but if you think I love the McCanns or I am about to join their fan club then you are deluded.
What I cannot stomach is the speculation and witch hunt. The 'anti' McCanns are more concerned with money, them being white British and middle class and Gerry's blog. Now none of the above mentioned in this paragraph are crimes.
NOBODY knows what will happen with the fund money or what is happening right now with the fund money, tell me if you have proof that its a fact that there are no Private Investigators looking for Maddy.
People keep mentioning their tour of the world, well hang on, have I missed this tour or something? Antis were crying that the McCanns didnt go to Malta! it ruined their future posts on here for days!
I think you are so misguided and completely missing the point, the majority of pro McCanns prefer to rely on facts rather than the armchair detectives spewing false accusation and not sticking to any facts...
The only fact so far is that Maddy was left alone by her parents, which is neglectful, after that its all speculation. Speculation that comes fast and furious from the anti McCann 'fan club'...........

I to have a heart and im also is a mother myself. But i so agree with you on this one. It also makes me wonder if the parents was not as well of as the McCann's would they get more of a lashing from public as seen as not good parents. How can anyone leave your children in a different country all alone like they did. It make me more mad too the amount of help they are getting over this as my family too went through the same thing when my cousin son went missing over 16ys ago now on 24Th July.. and my family had to go at it alone all these years to try and get him back. Its all to strange too that with all this press and help that no one has come forward to finding her, I hope deep down they do find her as no one should go through this. But its gets me so mad that they left the children all alone no matter how close they was to the hotel. They should have been with them always. And gets me more mad when people do say this kind of thing about the McCanns and other people think we don't care when in a way we do. we just saying our anger out on parents that do this then think they are not to blame.

I agree . It is neglect and as said previously if it had been in this country social services would be involved and they would be prosecuted for it. There is a reason for that!
Scouse above said it is ok to leave your kids because as parents they know their children and when they are likely to wake up etc.... Thats all very well but the danger isnt if they wake up alone it is if someone tries to kidnap your children or if there is a fire or something similar that you child will come to harm hence why it is negligent to leave them alone. They cannot fend for themselves.
Annie sorry but never ever ever would i "pop out" and leave my children! No way!
The other thing that really gets to me too was fair enough if you want a night off i can understand that i am a parent too of 3 children but make use of the baby sitting service the hotel / resort supply to you!!!!! Why the hell didnt they use it??? That i will never ever understand!
My prays are with Maddie and her siblings not her parents! Sorry
