some people get paid nothing at all and have to go out there and market to make $$ a paycheck how can someone survive like that?

They believe in the product or service they are selling. They are passionate about it. They know the product inside and out. Buyers believe them and more importantly - trust them as an expert on the topic or field. They are REALLY good - very persuasive. The commission is usually fairly high - which matches the level of difficulty. So it pays off.
It's not for the faint of heart.

You sell lots of whatever it is so you get more money. Also, when you have a really good month, save money for the months that aren't so good.

Working on commission is probably the only way you can get rich working for someone else. But you have to be damn good to get there.

it's called making a plan and then working it
You have to have great time management skills, ability to take a lot of rejection to get to the yes, and a willingness to keep pushing when things seem black.

IT'S CALLED GOOD PERSONALITY, EXCELLENT PRODUCT AND A BELIEF IN WHAT THEY SELL. IN OTHER WORDS THEY KNOW HOW TO SLING THE BS.
