Tell me about it. It riles me too.

I know someone who uses 'you're' all the time instead of 'your', and vice-versa - I've given up trying to explain.

Added to that, this person hasn't quite yet grasped where exactly the apostrophe goes in 'you're'. Sometimes it's your'e.

Ffs. Grrr.

But then, I also get annoyed at the incorrect use of "its". People don't understand the difference between 'it's' - the contraction of 'it is' or 'it has', and the word 'its' as a possessive pronoun.

Yes, I understand. When someone says your it is more like something belonging to you, as Is that YOUR pocketbook? and the other you're means YOU ARE on something. As you're on drugs.

They're not the same thing!!
Don't/didn't any of you that think it is study english at all?
'Your' is used when talking about something that belongs to 'you', such as, 'your cat is fat'.
You're is a shortened version of 'you are'.. such as you're fat.
Saying you're cat is fat would mean 'you are cat is fat', which makes no sense.

'Your' is used when it's something that belongs to you (your book, your coat, your holiday). 'You're' is used in place of 'you are'.

They are not the same thing and should not be used interchangeably.

Thank you for asking this question!
(It's) hmm

I hate reading questions where people fail to use them properly. It just reads easier to use them each in their own proper context.

You're asking this question because it's your option to do so!
