One of the best I ever heard of was the beatnick whose stone read, "Don't dig me now, cats. This time I'm really gone!"
Personally, I do not want an epitaph because I don't want a grave. Just cremate and scatter! We don't generally erect a monument in front of a house after the tenant moves out, do we? That's how I see the "dead body" concept - a tempoirary dwelling place the resident has moved out of. I can't move back in and no one else is going to move in, either, so just demolish it!

Hopefully, said by my wife's family who were once living way below the UN poverty in Indonesia, on less the US$1 a day, who now have a nice house & a small-holding to grow food and other cash crops; thus going from servitude under the local (western owned) plantation to self-sufficiency and living a relatively comfortable life.

I worked to hard - loved and cheerished my children, partner and very close friends.
No failure - no regrets it was all a learning curve.

My school report when I was 12 said 'Honest When Cornered' i've always loved that..and thought it was quite apt.
