Joseph of Aremathea, a friend of Jesus, along with Mary Magdalene, brought the Holy Grail first to France, and then to Avalon (associated with present day Glastonbury) for safe-keeping. The Holy Grail is most often believed to be the cup that Jesus used in The Last Supper. There is speculation by some that the Holy Grail was actually Mary Magdalene, who was carrying the unborn child of Jesus.
The Holy Grail is associated with King Arthur. In most versions of the legend, Arthur had his knights search for the Holy Grail. In at least one version, during the quest for the Holy Grail, Arthur discovers he is a descendant of Jesus and Mary Magdalene.

The Holy Grail is an entity protected by the Priory of Sion. It is Mary Magdalene. Its current location is unknown. The Alternate story is not widely known, but its the real story, keeping in line with the belief of many other religions, such as Judaism and Islam

Personally I believe it was the chalice used by our Lord and his Apostles at the Last Supper. I do believe it was in the Upper Room and somehow located or was moved under Solomon's Temple to protect it from non Christian hands.
